Stopped in on a whim. We wanted to shop for some groceries somewhere near our hotel. Parked at the Smiths and saw this sushi restaurant. Instead of cooking at the condo, we decided to get some sushi for dinner. Never knew anything about Super Sushi, but when in Vegas...why not just try.
Okay, in all honesty, we wouldn't have picked this spot. For one, it's off of a very busy and congested street/area. On Tropicana. And the surrounding area isn't the best. We didn't do any research. We just Googled "grocery store near me." Not that we are snobs. Actually, we're the complete opposite. But, we are mindful and very aware of our surroundings.
"Super Sushi" is a little restaurant tucked in between other businesses. It's an AYCE (All You Can Eat) sushi spot. But they also serve ala carte and bento style choices if you're not into AYCE. And let me tell you... it's DELICIOUS! OISHII! ONO!
We walked in at about 6 pm. on a Wednesday night. There was only 1 person sitting at the sushi bar. We were greeted promptly by the waitress/server/cashier. Since it was our first time there, she explained the difference in AYCE and ala carte ordering.
For the AYCE, it costs $25.99 to $32.95. The difference if price is a section that is, what I assume is on the higher side of cost. However, the menu has tons of choices. They also had bento style choices. And you could still order off of the sushi menu. You'll just need to pay for each choice.
We decided on the AYCE. Because one of the bento style choices was $16.99 plus any sushi we wanted to order. No brainer. We stayed away from the rolls except the avocado roll but inhaled as much negiri as we could. Between the Salmon, Unagi, Ahi, Hamachi, and Garlic salmon and ahi we ate till our hearts were content. Then followed by shrimp and vegetable tempura. But, the best thing I realized is the rice to fish ratio. Let me tell you, its so awesome. It's like eating sashimi with a tiny amount of rice.
This is absolutely a must try recommendation to anyone looking for good sushi. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The sushi was SUPER delicious. I'm definitely going to make it back here again for...
Read moreI work as deliver driver and have collaborated with this restaurant plenty of times. Each encounter being a pleasant experience except for the one I had tonight. Here’s my side of the story:
About 5 minutes after leaving the restaurant to deliver the customer’s order, I received a call from the restaurant informing me that I must return because they handed me the wrong order. Upon returning to the restaurant, I was told to wait as the correct order wasn’t fully prepared for take-out. At this moment, I had exchanged a few words with the manager at which I intentionally being playful but also completely honest as that’s just who I am. I shared my thought openly and stayed the fact that it’s totally okay that he made a mistake. This is when all hell broke loose. Suddenly, the manager becomes entirely defensive and allowed his emotions take over his mind and exacerbated the entire scenario. I was completely surprised by his response and totally confused about it just made no sense to me whatsoever. I witness such childish behaviour coming from a grown man. And so, to cope with his subconscious need to deflect any accountability, he took on a character as his means to an end. The “man-child” gave me a damn negative rating. Totally unjustified! I work very hard developing my near-perfect satisfaction rating and this “man-child” had no shame in tarnishing the reputation. Well, this game can go both ways, buddy! and that’s why I am writing this review. However, I’d still like to hand over a peace offering and request that we both remove this stain we’ve placed on each other. Show me you reversed the rating and you have my word that I will do the same for you.
Time to grow up and quit acting like...
Read moreIf you're looking for inexpensive sushi, this is it. If you want to go all out, go at a slow time (Tuesdays?). When they're not too busy, you can get your select sashimi (not at the deal price) and really enjoy yourself. Be sure to order the warmed sake. Cleans your palate nicely. If you're going for the all-you-can-eat, it is good. If you're going for omakase, definitely pick a slow time. The sushi chef can wow, but he also can be overwhelmed with the online orders. The meat is fresh. The uni is not always on point, but always tasty.
For people going for a real sushi bar: Sit at the bar. Order a warm sake, mussels (or the mushrooms or gyoza), and a sushi roll (pick something you'll enjoy). From there, keep your menu and order sashimi as you go. Expectation is $75/person and tip. BUT, it really ends up being $40/person plus a tip for the chef and a tip for the host.
I cannot be more happy with the food and service at this place. Being from LA, this spot really does what they advertise. Spending $120 for two, for sushi, including tip? OMG. And, it's good? OMFG. The chef is trained well. Good sheet.
Again, the daily specials are good as well. Tried those before taking my wife for a "date" here. I just prefer going here and ordering as I go along. $80 for the food, $20 for the chef, $20 for the host.... Works out great. Best sushi experience for the money.
I will also mention that I still enjoy their $20 special whenever I am not with the wife. Filling and tasty. Their meat is fresh always. But, I always look forward to when wifey wants to go get sushi. That's when we get...
