Warning to Future Customers: This Restaurant Needs a Health Inspection I recently visited Tasty Island Jamaican Restaurant located at 6820 W. Flamingo Rd., and I feel compelled to warn others about my experience. This place urgently needs to be investigated by the health bureau. Upon entering, I discovered that you can only order take-out; there is no seating available. To the right of the entrance, it looks like someone is using what used to be a dining area as an office. Behind a glass window, a man took my order and then went to the back to cook it. I ordered a vegetable Jamaican beef patty, and I’m thankful I didn’t order anything else. The patty took only two minutes to prepare, which was suspicious. When I opened the bag, it was clear that the patty had been sitting in the freezer for a long time. It seemed to have been thrown into hot grease and served. The patty was inedible and should not be consumed by any human or animal. It was alarming that someone would serve food in this condition, knowing it had come directly from the freezer. Nothing in this restaurant appears to be cooked fresh, and no food should be given out in such a state. If you plan to eat here, pray over your food and hope you don’t end up with an infection or a stomach virus. This $4.60 experience taught me never to walk into this place again.

Combo - jerk chicken/curry goat I am embarrassed as a Jamaican to say, this is the worst jerk chicken I've ever had. People you cant mess up an icon dish that every man, woman and child wants to sample in and outside our country? From the voices coming out of the kitchen, a yardie a preparing these dishes. People, the chicken was not seasoned. It was coated with browning and soya sauce and thrown in the oven to be baked. That's not jerk chicken. The rice and peas that were served was spicy. But again, no where near to what the average Jamaican restaurant would serve for that taste of Jamaica. The curry goat was probably the only dish that was acceptable to any average Jamaican who knows their food. Our country and it's colors hold such great expectations for visitors and individuals who visit and want to taste our food all over the world. Please live up to the expectations of your colleagues back home and internationally within the kitchen. Mr Parri Jamaica.

Tasty Island Jamaican Restaurant is located on Flamingo Road of Las Vegas. The elephant in the room is the customer service is quirky, it’s not what would normally expects in this day and age, so I would say no it’s not right but my suggestion is not berate mom and pops, they are definitely old school, The food does speak for its self, I chose the jerk chicken with rice and peas, vegetables was included along with festive, I was informed that the chicken was going to be spicy , no problem I said, when I received my food I was happy with the portion size, the spicyness was definitely there, I didn’t expect the rice and peas to be spicy also, this wasn’t an issue for me, the vegetables was cooked just right, the chicken was a touch on the dry side, overall I was happy with my Jamaican food in Las Vegas, USA, I will return to check out the oxtail, so in closing overlook mom and pops character and check it out

My brother and I were looking forward to trying the food at Tasty Island. Our Mother brought it to our attention while on her way to hospital to visit said brother. So today I wanted to surprise him with comfort food, we are Jamaican and have eaten various dishes all of our lives. The woman that served me was pleasant enough to the point I trusted not to look at what she had tied up in the bag for my order. The lunch prices $7.99 waaaay to much for what we got, my big brother's favorite, curry chicken - DRY just DRY as a board no gravey for neither the chicken nor the "steamed" rice and maybe traditional but don't break my chicken bones to save money thanks!! $7.99 plus tax for TWO funky old warmed over pigeon sized jerk chicken wings. The rice and peas were in the compartment where usually the main entree goes like maybe even four wings. The vegetables were not fresh either. I felt totally robbed we support small businesses but not this one EVER AGAIN! Those other reviews saying this was Great food must have never had good cooking much less good Jamaican. Eleanor and her husband need to revisit the love of Jamaican cuisine. My brother didn't even want his food and rathered to wait for our mom to bring dinner. Wasted $18 for lunch and tip. If you are ever in ATLANTA, GA try Island Cafe on Memorial Dr. This bad experience is only more motivation to open our own spot here in Vegas. So don't say I...

Trash 🗑 don't waste your money, I want to cuss these people out, because of the eye pass i received with that food i order. I should have just cook my own food. First off the owner was nice and welcoming. older lady and her son i think I meet the night. They were joval etc... so I thought to myself ok maybe the food would be good because the vibes and atmosphere was good. Plus I had just relocated to Vegas only a few days ago and I was missing West indian food from back home, and I was happy to try this place here in Vegas. Since there's just a few Jamaican food spots. Who told me to ordered curry chicken with white rice and two slices of black cake aka rum cake back in December 2019. And went back to the hotel. Lawdddd have mercy. When I bust open the box and start eating i was in for a big disappointment. These f@@king people serve me hard, dry, old cool rice with water down curry chicken that they clearly didn't microwave properly. The food was f@@king old . Like days old. The rum cake was ok. But what the F. In all my life this was nonsense I experience at this so call restaurant. I had to put it in the trash 🗑 were it belongs. I was so upset. Never again. Every time I drive pass this place I does want to cuss. People who are from the Islands know Caribbean food. This place is a joke. If you want good Caribbean food you have to drive to LA, Miami, New York, ATL etc. Or cook it...

I'm only giving this restaurant one star because it's not possible to give them 0 stars, trust me if there was that's what they'd get! I first looked up this restaurant on Google maps as I am presently in Las Vegas and wanted an authentic Jamaican brown stew snapper. The menu said brown stew fish was $17.99. I was told it would take 30 minutes to prepare as they were done by order. I arrived at the restaurant and went to get my order, the lady at the counter fiddled at the register as if she, wasn't sure about the pricing. She eventually said , "oh your order is $27.00". I was flabbergasted and quickly annoyed! I told her that I saw the price of $17.99 online and went to get my phone from the truck to show her. She called a gentleman from the back to deal with me or so it seemed. I showed him their supposed menu on the Google map app, and the gentleman responded that he didn't post that! I responded, "I definitely didn't, then who did?". I felt like they were trying to take advantage of me because I was a so called tourist, but not a fool! I drove 20 minutes outside of the strip for these people to try to rob me! Neither the lady or the gentleman tried to resolve this matter, even after me showing them the pricing that was listed on Google maps. I give this restaurant 2 thumbs down a negative experience in my estimation! Thanks for wasting...
