The people here are very nice and the service is excellent. Very humble people. I only hope that my review can help the kitchen improve. The first time we were here we ordered the Clay pot... And boy was the food scorching hot (temperature) I had to wait a whole 10 minutes to eat comfortably, even blowing on it didn't help, it was like magic, I burned my tongue twice. It just wouldn't cool. The waitress noticed and ended up bringing a plate to migrate the food over to hopefully cool it off (the sesame balls were really good though). It's a new place, Chuan Cafe used to be here, so we decided to give this play another try through door dash. We ordered the red fish fille and it was extremely salty! Way over the top, like licking salt. I couldn't finish it, so much salt. The minced chicken was a bit less salty, but still overall salty and moderate-high oily... The lettuce wrap that came with it helped break the salt a bit and the oil would drip through the lettuce pieces. The mapo tofu was super oily... VERY oily you can feel your lips with oil just like Dan Dan noodles... I'm not kidding when I say this, the moment you touch the noodles with your lips oil drips through. I really hope in the future, they can moderate the level of salt, oil, heat... Like I said they are really nice people. Please don't let my review influence you negatively. Give it a try, but let them know you don't want it too hot, oily,s salty before hand to better your odds of enjoying the food. The cook walks around at times making sure people like their food and he's very kind. I was just too shy to say anything because they're...
Read moreHaving looked for so long for a "good" Chinese restaurant anywhere around the Conroe/The Woodlands/Old Town Spring area, imagine our surprise to find a "GREAT" Chinese restaurant right there in Spring, just a short distance along FM 2920 about 2 minutes from I-45 !!!!! Big City Kitchen, how have you been hiding in plain sight for all of this time? We enjoyed our first visit so much yesterday that we can’t wait to get through the leftovers so we can visit again!! My husband ordered Egg Drop Soup followed by Beef with Black Pepper Sauce on Sizzling Platter, whereas I ordered Shredded Pork with Fresh Thai Pepper and Cilantro and a Singapore Style Rice Noodle. Wow, wow and wow again. The food was so fresh, authentic in style and flavor, cooked by the Chinese chef (in our experience, the best way!!), beautifully presented, and delivered with a brilliant smile by the lovely Ms Summer. We felt welcomed, tremendously well looked after, and as if nothing was too much trouble. Big City Kitchen, you have already earned our loyalty and we will see you again...
Read moreThis was the best gosh darn Chinese food I have ever had. This place was clean, relaxing, and looked very new on the inside. The menu was easy to read and it appeared that the restaurant isn’t trying to do much much but are doubling down on what they do best. What made the food so good was how the fried the shrimp. It wasn’t greasy or unhealthy at all. The shrimp was tender & juicy. Plus they were huge. The spices were hitting just right and it wasn’t to salty or too spicy. The vegetables were beautiful and fresh and the rice was delicious. Yes the plain Jane rice was slapping like your momma when you skipped school. Finally the people works there were friendly and kind and it was Chinese people cooking the food. Super authentic but yet they still had all the classic dishes. I will be back. Now I must sleep off...
