Come for the Bourbon, stay for the Cocktails and relaxed small bar Vibes. This is the best bourbon bar in southwest Ohio- even better than that “hundred year” bar downtown- for two reasons: Care and Craft. My favorite thing about 70/70, funnily enough, has nothing to do with alcohol- it’s the owners and staff that want to make sure you have a good night out. Even if this place wasn’t a bourbon bar, if it was a coffee shop, I’d be quite regular.
What also sets it apart from that “hundred year” bar is the Limestone water they offer in dropper bottles for your whiskey. The particular chemistry of Kentucky’s water defines the resulting whiskey- adding Ohio water (or heaven forbid, tap water) will alter the flavor. That “hundred year” bar’s water is noticeably sulfurous, so I am always thankful for the Limestone water at 70/70 when I order a 120 proof Knob Creek Single Barrel!
Turning to their cocktails, they have a permanent menu of classics like their locally famous Lavender Gin Fizz served with a bubble of aromatic smoke. I almost always order a Smoked Old Fashioned, they use Buffalo Trace and carefully smoke each one. The resulting sparks make quite a show. Check in on their Facebook/Instagram pages to see what the weekly special cocktail is. Do be patient, as they're all from scratch and made to order. So worth it though!
They do keep a few beers from Yellow Springs Brewery on tap, and canned seltzer's. They have charcuterie cups and larger charcuterie boards for snacking.
And don’t forget about the back patio- kick back in big Adirondack chairs around the gas fire pits with your whisky, a stogie, and good company. Ask at the bar to see the cigar humidor and...
Read moreI've been eagerly anticipating the grand opening of this place for a long time now. I was super excited to see that were having a soft opening recently and stopped by to see what they're all about. Upon entry, you're greeted by well though out decor, a large bar (locally crafted and gorgeous), and leather seating along the wall. There is an additional room in the back with more seating and a patio out back for those who want to enjoy a cigar. There is no smoking inside, so if you're not a fan of cigar smoke, you don't have anything to worry about.
Despite being new, they have a great whiskey selection, with many hard to find bottles. The prices are very reasonable for pours. They had a list of craft cocktails as well. I opted for a pour of Elmer T. Lee as well as a smoked old fashion. The old fashion was delicious.
The staff are super friendly and were happy to share information about the journey to owning what should be one of the best hang outs in the Springboro area (my words, not theirs). They enemies have the service flag of their recently passed grandfather looking over the bar, which is a great tribute to a man who was so very excited about this project.
Make sure you stop in for a drink...
Read moreThe 70/70 Social Club has truly become a staple in our community. Locally owned and operated, this unassuming bar is nestled in historic downtown Springboro. This speakeasy is a transportive experience. Stepping inside, you're immediately enveloped in a dark, moody ambiance that feels both intimate and exclusive. Low lighting, plush velvet seating, and a trendy soundtrack. Despite the dim and dramatic setting, the atmosphere is anything but cold. The cocktails are truly the star of the show. The menu offers a masterful blend of classic drinks and innovative creations, each one meticulously crafted. It is clear these lovely people are passionate about their craft. This bar successfully marries style with substance, proving that a sophisticated and stylish setting can still be...
