Ok. I was going to give it 5 stars but I read a couple of reviews and realized that I felt some things that I wasn’t going to mention. We come in, get a bottled coffee, glazed twist, chocolate chip cookie, and a small Grogg. Everything was delicious but there was room for improvement in the coffee.
The service was par for the course nowadays: young lady, well put together, took the order. She cast a couple of glances that made me feel less than welcome but I am a black man in this predominantly white area and we are living in trying times. A second girl that seemed to be of partial Asian decent was nice.
There was a tip jar but I didn’t tip because, as another reviewer mentioned, they are not waitresses or whatever so what’s up with tipping someone for such a quick and easy transaction from a cashier who isn’t even that friendly.
The place was nice and clean and the food was good. If you are in the area and want donuts you should...
Read moreEvery once in a while you stumble upon that little shop. That small place that's so unassuming. That mom and pop looking place that, when you look at it, just looks like it's an ordinary little shop, just getting by, serving the local community......been there for years, type of place. Well....that's this place. It only when you order their incredible treats, that you realize what an absolute GEM you've found! The donuts here are no frills type, and there are places that have a wider variety.....but who cares! These things are, in my opinion, as good if not better than, their competitor in the neighboring city, that's received national attention. Dare I say it.... Bill's. I'm just gonna out this out there.....I'll come here before Bill's any day of the week, and twice on Saturday (because I'm in church on Sunday). Don't just take my word for it....check them out!! Oh, be sure to get at least ONE apple fritter. Trust me on that one....
Read moreI believe this is the first poor review I've ever left online. Donuts = Great. Service = not so much. Me: "I'll just have an apple fritter." Reply: "$2.25." I then get, "$17" and was handed $17. Tips are not assumed or forced upon customers, they are given as a reward for quality service, which I definitely didn't get. I paid with cash to avoid the card payment system which by default "asks" for a 20% tip for what is a 20 second transaction. Not sure how we've gotten to a point where everyone feels they are entitled to a 15% - 25% tip just for showing up to work. The $.75 I wasn't given resulted in a 33% tip for someone who said two words to me. Restaurant servers get a much lower hourly rate because they rely on tips for the majority of their earnings, thus they are encouraged to be good at their job. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against tipping, but it must be earned, otherwise it's just...
