Best salad bar in town.
Love their dressings and they give a wide selection. Salad bar itself has 2 or 3 types of lettuce and dozens of toppings to add to your salad. The other side (soup bar) had a array of soups, crackers, breads and other goodies to pair well with your hot food. I have a few decent soups, and their cinnamon bread is fantastic.
Their dessert bar is never short of seasonal favorite and unique items. Their cookies, cakes, fruit, and other delicacies are fairly fresh and they offer some sugar free options for diabetics, as well as ice cream options and a few toppings.
On the menu, their appetizers are good, from their dips to their shrimp. Always a good size, and a decent price. Their steaks are a hit or miss for me. Sometimes I get a great steak, other times it comes a little overdone or underdone. They have a great selection, and different deals depending on the time of year/season.
Their wait staff is exceptional. If I have ever had a rude staff member, they were quickly gone. They keep polite and courteous staff on at all times. Service is prompt and never a long wait (food comes out just as I finish my...
ย ย ย Read moreWent here tonight (7pm) with my family. I've been to Hoss's many times, usually the West York location and never have any complaints. Tonight's visit to this location was completely different and I immediately remembered why I stopped coming here. The service wasn't great, for the hour of night and how empty it was, we waited awhile until our server finally showed to take our drink orders and the 2 entrees we ordered took over 30 minutes to arrive. The salad was chocked full of brown lettuce, the tortilla chips were super stale, the chicken noodle soup was extremely salty, the PB sauce for the ice cream barely tasted like peanut butter, and the french onion soup literally had, maybe, a handful of teeny onion slivers in the entire pot. It was 99% broth and wasn't even hot enough to melt the mozzarella cheese or soften the croutons I put in it. Our server was pleasant enough, but nobody else was welcoming at all. The options here are much more limited. I'll be sticking with the...
ย ย ย Read moreHoss's is known for their steaks and in my opinion theirs are superior. I also love the way they changed to a classic style restaurant where you sit down and order from a menu, as opposed to their former way when you had to order your steak as soon as you walked in. The wait staff are very friendly and always making sure you are happy and have everything you need. The only thing I dislike is the dessert selection. This may not be an issue for everybody, but I feel like the desserts are the kind you'd see in a smorgasbord. I personally enjoy the fancy kind you find at most restaurants and they're usually on a menu. Hoss's has theirs with the all you can eat salad bar. To name a few they have ice cream, cookies, brownies, pies, cakes, puddings. But I just feel that their quality isn't as good as other places. Most people would probably disagree and will have no problem with this, but picky people like me with a taste for rich, decadentย desserts, will notice...
