Big Jays Place — Restaurant in Springfield Township

Update 10/28/2022 I really did not want to rate this place lower than my original rating, but I have tried over the last year to be a regular customer to no avail. I literally live around the corner yet i have only been able to patronize the restaurant once. Since my original post, I have had to deal with trying to order when they first open only to be told they were already out of food. I have dealt with ordering before closing to be told they ran out of food earlier in the day. I tried to book a private anniversary dinner and did not receive a call back bc he thought I meant that week and not the month I asked for. Today I ordered online before they opened. I went to pick it up only to be told they do not use the online service any longer, the did not have my order, I would have to call and tell the online service to not use them anymore and when I tried to place the order in the store, they were out of everything except the chicken! They had only been open an hour!!! What makes me upset is that the food is DELICIOUS! However, I will not attempt to patronize again! When I tell you this was well worth the wait. Big Jay was kind enough to wait for me to pick up my order after work. Everything was fresh. ...

So let me say that the food isn’t necessarily bad.. just extremely overpriced.. spending 20+ dollars i expect a certain level of either quantity or quality and the jerk bowl was not neither. I understand the economy is rough and its still a business but the jerk bowl should be in the 9-12 dollar range.. i barely have any garlic aoili sauce on my bowl and had to add some chick fil a sauce on my bowl to give it less of a dry texture.. im also not full off of it and when i spend that type of money i should be full and still have extras for later.. not to mention i got charged 50cents EXTRA for a little cup of cheese😂 i work walking distance away and can honestly say that i wont be back it will just be too much on my pockets for not much in return whether it be quality or quantity.. im actually kind of salty because i had high hopes of this place and needed a new lunch spot for lunch break but im still in search of that place as it aint too many quality options on winton...

I attempted to order the oxtails earlier in the month, and they sold out within 30 minutes of opening. The oxtails are only offered on Fridays and advertised as sold until sold out. I was finally able to snag an order this past Friday and can tell you the hype is warranted! The oxtail meal automatically comes served on a bed of caribbean rice with a side of a collard green mix and mac n cheese. The taste and freshness were perfection. I'm not sure if the oxtails themselves are weighed for proportion sizing, but I ended up with a couple of more smaller ones than a friend of mine. The two sides were some of the best I have ever had. I can't wait to try the other options. This place is a must try.

Update: The restaurant now offers Oxtails on Sundays on a first come, first serve basis. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you call in advance to order. Pre-orders are included in the first come, first serve rule. The food is still...
