Hi everyone! I just wanted to write this review with a grain of salt (or no salt, because it wasn’t on the table). My father had been bragging about this place for days, we went to many local eateries trying different food, and everywhere we went he said that we had to try My Brother’s Place. Catchy name I thought, man, I can tell my wife I’m going to “My Brothers Place” and not lie by going to the bar. We are out of towners, not really because I was born in Grove City and moved around a lot, but I hadn’t been to this restaurant for many years and I would like to capture the events of the night in this review. We walked in the back door (by the main parking lot) and were greeted awkwardly by a waitress. After she said hello (as in she was asking us a question) she led us to the hostess’s station. We were promptly seated in the same waitress’s area. The waitress came to the table after three or four minutes (not unreasonable) and asked for our drink selection. We ordered our drinks and after about 5 minutes the tables non-alcoholic drinks were brought. At this time my wife ordered the fried green tomato appetizer. As the waitress left the table, I requested Waters for two of our party. It literally took fifteen minutes for our waters to be brought, and our drinks still hadn’t made it to the table. After some small talk around the table as to when our drinks would be served, they arrived, with some appetizer plates. The plates were delivered in a stack and left on the table, no problem, until we took them off the stack. They were absolutely disgusting; they were covered in grease and fingerprints. The lemon drop my wife ordered “tasted like straight vodka with a couple lemon slices”. The waitress ensured that she there were “sugar packets” at the table before she left, sugar is supposed to come in a lemondrop. The Bloody Mary’s were the absolutely worst I have ever had in the world. When I say world, I mean that. I have been stationed in Germany, Korea, deployed to many other countries, lived in Texas, Ohio, Washington, and Oregon, these were terrible. It was V8 and Vodka and a lemon slice. We asked for some tobasco. At first, and the waitress brought it. The bottle she brought had about two shakes left in it…. Literally, when we asked her about it, she said that she didn’t realize she brought us an empty bottle. When she went to go grab us more we also asked for some worcestershire sauce, she grabbed us another almost empty bottle of tobasco sauce. There was thankfully, enough for us to flavor our drinks. Our plates for the appetizers were sent back with the drinks, and our appetizer was dropped off soon after. We ate the fried green tomatoes without plates. My wife immediately said that they were cold, I tried one and thought it was good and warm. She tried another and said it was good, we thought the night was picking up. We ate our appetizers and drank our drinks and waited for the waitress to stop back by the table. She eventually made her way back and we made sure to order our next round of drinks because it took so long for us to get our initial ones. We ordered beer on tap to lighten the load of the bar tender seeing as it took so long to get our initial ones, there were about twenty people in a place that looked like it could hold about eighty (owners please verify)(I’m trying to portray that it looked empty). Our food came out of the kitchen with the exception of my daughter’s side order of fries, because you couldn’t order them on the salad she wanted. The food was pretty good according to the party, minus the extra side of cheese that we ordered for my youngest daughter’s broccoli. I wasn’t a fan of the sweet tomato sauce they use on the lasagna or the fact that there were only layers of ricotta cheese and noodles. I’m a meat guy and like some sausage or hamburger layers in there, but I regress, many people have many recipes. The fries never came, my oldest ended up eating the entire salad that she ordered before the fries were delivered and we asked to have them removed from...
Read more1st: Food was exceptional. In my case, I had the Philly Cheese Steak and having been stationed in Philly, I've NEVER had a cheese steak that EVER came close to the two famous places in Philly! That is, UNTIL today! The meat, onions, green peppers and cheese were OVERFLOWING the bun and it was DELICIOUS! AS GOOD AS I'VE EVER HAD! The wife had the "Pittsburgher" - similar to Primanti Brothers but BETTER! The bun was HUGE, and FILLED with steak, fries and provolone. I'd have given 5 Stars except for two things. Ordered a bowl of chilli and got a cup that was barely luke warm. The waitress did take it back and brought a bowl and while it was delicious, it was on the low side of hot - not the 140 degrees soup is supposed to be; BUT ... it was very tasty. The other reason for only 4 stars was the waitress. Granted, they were very busy with three large groups (Mother's Day). One table was served and left before our food came (they were after all there before our large table - no problem). But after all our tables food was delivered, we never saw the waitress again - never came back to ask if our drinks needed refilled, and some people never got some of the condiments they had asked for. SUMMARY: FANTASTIC FOOD ... slow service (but they were busy), but the waitress was simply neglectful beyond the cause of being busy. Our bill was just over $50 and despite the service, I left a 30% tip although my wife felt that was far too much for the service. I figure everyone has a bad day though. Again, BEST PHILLY...
Read moreI went with 3 other people last night. It was a horrible experience. Came into the restaurant and there was a young man that’s greeted us. He was filling in but was the dishwasher. He was very polite then a young girl Came up to us and was very rude to to the guy. She spoke rudely and gave him dirty looks to everyone and rolled her eyes. She told him to seat us and he never got rude he took his coworkers abuse. He seated us and took our drink order. The waitress finally came and took out order and then we sat and waited for an hour. In that hour we discover the rude girl at the beginning of this store was the managers daughter as she called her mom. We also watched as 2 other waitresses were not getting along and didn’t hide it. Our waitress came back a couple of times, one of those time crying, stating the food is there yet?
Finally after waiting over an hour and only receiving a drink I found a waitress to pay for the drinks. She use to be the bartender and was the only waitress that was nice.
If I am correct and the manager is the waitress with light hair and ponytail then you restaurant is going to have bad days. There are a lot Of employees working there that are not happy there.
Oh on a side note the snotty girl that greeted us had a boyfriend there. He came after us and got his food...
