This place. I am torn. Not torn on if I like it or not but torn on if I wish I lived closer to Black Sheep Burgers and Shakes or not. If I lived closer my bank account would be smaller and my waist line would be bigger. The restaurant is a really cool little brick building with lots of character. Plenty of sports on TV with some punk rock playing over the speakers. I felt right at home.
Our party of 6 was able to be seated right away when we arrived around 6:30. Our waitress Jillian brought our water, took drink and food orders right away and was very friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and consistently checked to make sure we were doing ok. She addressed every need we had. We could not have asked for a better server. Give her a raise please.
We ordered: Truffle N' Parmesan Fries - Absolutely delicious could have just been my whole meal Apple N' Hickory Smoked Fries - Wowza! These were amazing. Such a fantastic smokey flavor, I dipped a few in the Baba Cheese Sauce, which was super good as well but they were amazing on their own. Sea Salt N' Pepper Fries - I didn't actually get to try these fries as they were on the other end of the table, I was told they were delicious though! These fry orders come with so many fries! The 6 of us barely made a dent in these three orders. Did I mention the sauces? There are 8 free sauces that if you ask they will bring out on a platter to enjoy with the fries. The Baba Cheese Sauce is available at a cost but is totally worth it. I definitely recommend asking for the sauces.
We ordered the following burgers and rated them on a 1-10 scale: •Cowboy Carl - 10. Everything about this burger was fantastic. The homemade pickles. The chipotle BBQ sauce. spicy fried onions. brisket. The burger itself. All so so so good. And so so big. I could only eat half. •What The Doctor Ordered - 8 Everything was super good, just wished there was some of the homemade pickles to add some acid and help cut through the richness. •Foodie - 8 Her only complaint was that she wished it had only been a single rather a double. It was just a bit too much hamburger patty for her. Not a reflection on the restaurant really, more of a reflection on what she can eat. •Hippie Jen - 10 That's all she said. But if it's a 10 do you need to know more? •Bleus Brothers - 7 He ate it so fast I am not sure he really tasted the food. If he had slowed down to really taste it he may have rated it higher. Seriously. I think he ate the whole thing in under 5 minutes. •Don't Go Bacon My Heart - 8 The cheese was so smooth. He was sick and his taste buds were not quite right. Even so, he gave it an 8. Could be a 10 if he's not sick? 🤷🏼♂️

Read moreWe ate there at 11 on a Sunday morning. Great food. The smoked French fries ($5) are WONDERFUL, and the serving was more than enough for both of us. The fries are batter-dipped.
The fries are served with a platter of seven different dipping sauces. I wish there had been more plain old ketchup on the platter, but our waitress was happy to bring us more. They do serve the fries in a bowl that is prone to tipping over, so watch for that.
My wife had the cowboy burger ($13). I tried it. It was HEAVENLY. Barbecue sauce. Smoked brisket. Ground beef. Onion rings. She insisted that the onion rings had been pickled before frying. I couldn't tell. The burger also had in-house-made pickle slices. Sticky, sweet, tangy, smoky. It was incredible.
I had the foodie burger ($10). It was good. It featured a truffle mayo that, for me, made the burger a little too rich. It had a white topping that I can only assume was the mayo. It looked and tasted like herb butter. Delicious, but too rich for the dish, and not quite the right flavor for that burger. So.... good, but not amazing.
We split a chocolate-peanut-butter-banana shake ($7.50) for dessert. This was about a pint of milkshake. It was served in a disposable plastic cup the same size as a red solo cup. I might have been disappointed in the size if I'd only ordered a shake. This is NOT a Sonic large milkshake, but as a dessert at the end of a big meal, it was about right. The flavors and textures were fantastic. They also serve these shakes with alcohol in them, but we had ours mormon-style. :)
We loved the music they were playing.
The staff were friendly, and our waitress was competent.
The waitress brought a big bottle of cold water for the table at the start of the meal. Just tap water by the taste of it, but it was refreshing.
My biggest complaint was a fly buzzing around me when we sat down. He wouldn't leave me alone for several minutes, but..... it's summer. An occasional fly is...
Read moreBest burgers I've ever had. The burgers are very filling, but they're awesome and you get your money's worth. You have to order fries separately from the burger, but they give you a small bucket full, which is plenty for two people or for leftovers the next day. I also really like how generous they are with their sauces. That picture of the plate full of sayceswas given to us with our food without us asking for it. I think they're very proud of their different sauces here. When they bring them out, they tell you what each one is and what it might be good with. They have chipotle ketchup (my mom liked it a lot; I was indifferent as I'm a bit of a ketchup purist), regular ketchup, barbeque sauce of some kind, garlic mayo (served on some of the burgers, this stuff is WONDERFUL; my mom loved having it with her fries), and another sauce whose identity I don't remember. They have different nuanced flavors of fries you can order. I got sweet potato fries on my first visit (sans marshmallow fluff because I like them with ketchup) and salt and pepper fries on my second visit. Both were great, and even though I love sweet potato fries, I think they were both equally good. They also have salt and vinegar fries, which my mom ordered and loved (and also dipped in that garlic mayo). They offer shakes here, some of which are boozy and others are not. I haven't tried any, as I'm lame and don't drink shakes that aren't your basic vanilla with the occasional candy add-in. I'm sure someone more adventurous would have a good time with their shakes, though. They also have fresh lemonade here, which I ordered both times and really enjoyed. I'll be coming back again and again to try...
