Sweet EMO SGF — Restaurant in Springfield

I've been a loyal customer of this ice cream shop since they opened their first location in Springfield, and I can't say enough about how incredible this place is. The staff is nothing short of amazing, especially when it comes to interacting with my little one, who is autistic. They handle his ice cream orders with such care and patience, making him feel heard and understood. He loves sitting at the bar, chatting with them about how he’s going to grow up to be an ice cream man.

It’s truly heartwarming to see how they respond to him—every time, without fail, his eyes light up with joy. The people who work here don’t just care about their jobs; they’re genuinely good, compassionate individuals.

And the ice cream—let me tell you, it's a game-changer. After being diagnosed with Alpha-Gal Syndrome, finding good food options can be tough, but this place has been a lifesaver. The ice cream is delicious, and their weekly specialty items are out of this world. They had a Shamrock Shake that took me straight back to my childhood; I must have gone five or ten times for that alone. I even took one of my partners here for a date, and she (who can eat dairy) said it tasted amazing.

My only suggestion—and it's a running joke I have with them—is that they should get cup holders for people like me who always have multiple orders on the go.

I messaged the Springfield page to ask that they consider adding gluten free options to be told "we already have some" and I mentioned that I talked to someone at the window and they weren't sure what was what and had to message the boss. The social media posts aren't cohesive across platforms with what is and isn't gluten free. I was told this person doesn't work there and no one that looked like that worked there. I know where I was, I know who I talked to. And being told I'm lying about asking about allergies is very heartbreaking. The principal is that getting defensive when a customer suggests maybe adding more gluten free, is not the move. Horrible customer service and to be told I'm lying on it top of it. They had to text their boss, which is who I talked to on Facebook. He would have those texts from my visit when I talked to the person he's saying...

I've recently been bitten by a tick, contracting Lonestar Tick (AGS) Disease. Claire, I believe, informed me that to her knowledge, marshmallow was the only ingredient I would need to avoid. I bought a Biscoff cookie ice cream, a pecan tart, and a peanut butter macaron that fed me for days. beyond being clean for me to eat, the desserts are among the best I've ever had. suffice to say, i was able to eat my desserts for a couple of days, and i never became sick from unnatural or bovine items, because the desserts truly are cleanly, thoughfully prepared. i'm on the verge of typing "Sweet Emo is a godsend".
