It's been a few months since I last was in Springfield, but I can't get this place off my mind. It may be because I keep referring it to all my coworkers traveling to our MO facility.
Walnut Street Inn is my favorite B&B I've ever stayed in. They have customer service down to a science and are more welcoming to business travelers than one might expect! They even have a great corporate pricing and mid-week pricing scale that makes them a sensible travel option. Plus, when I mentioned I was heading into the office, they sent me to the office with some homemade cookies! Now that is a great way to start a busy workday!
Situated within walking distance to the heart of downtown, this B&B offers both a convenient location and a sense of visiting your loving grandmother's cottage. The breakfasts are unbelievably delicious!! Additionally, it was so nice to be able to choose the time of my breakfast as well as if I wanted to socialize at the dining room table or nosh while I got ready in my room.
The rooms are a perfectly B&B: vintage, comfortable, and full of history. Yes, my room had a tub in the middle of it, at it made it that much better! You can tell they take pride in keeping both the authenticity and the quality...
Read moreThis great Inn is in the heart of downtown Springfield area. We stayed in the carriage house. Beds were comfortable, plenty of amenities. The rooms are very nicely decorated and setup. Our room had plenty of room. Madeline was so very nice and helpful at the front desk.
Breakfast was included and it was delicious. They have specials each morning and that is breakfast. One morning was lemon blueberry pancakes, bacon and toast. The next was breakfast hash served int beautiful dining room in the main building
The Inn is located on the famous Walnut Street and is very close to local restaurants and a short drive to the downtown area.
The area is as quiet as is possible. It can get a little noisy at night by no fault of Walnut Street Inn. They even leave some complimentary ear plugs on the room But on our visit it was very peaceful and quiet and great sleeping.
The only a couple of drawback in our particular room is that the AC can be a little loud but it did not run all night . Also Our room had a tiny shower. I am 6 foot and had limited...
Read moreWe decided to book this inn because their commercial on our local PBS made it sound lovely and romantic. We booked the most expensive room. My husband told them we were celebrating our 50th anniversary. Well, our “lovely room” was two houses away in a dingy house. We climbed a dirty carpeted stairway to reach our room. The couch looked dingy, there was heavy dust on the bed frame, the fireplace didn’t work. The jetted tub did work but had a sign that warning not to do this or that or it would not work or shut down properly. The room wasn’t worth a third of what we paid. ||||As for our anniversary, the inn did not recognize it. At breakfast, coffee is excellent but if you do not want the entree of the day, you get one of those premade omelets. After we had almost finished eating, my husband flagged the waiter to ask for some water. The waiter said, “Sure and we also have orange juice.” Second day, it was the same. No water or juice unless we asked for it.||||Very very disappointing and...
