I've given this place more chances than I'd like to admit because they're a small business, they're one of the only legit donut places on this side of town, and the owners, when they're available, are pretty friendly. But I won't return, here's why...
Today was the 4th or 5th time across the past six months that I've driven from Willard to Springfield with the sole purpose of enjoying fresh Daylight donuts only to find that, even though Google says they are open, and even though their front door says they should be open, they are not open.
I am not the first person to say this. It's a regular thing for them and you can see that reflected in their reviews, and, as I found out this morning, on their Facebook page where they sometimes make posts. Here's a sample of those posts from the last 3 months...
Aug 26 (Today) - Nothing posted... Aug 22 - "Closed today. Front of house is not doing good." Aug 21 - "Opening late, aiming for 6:30" Aug 12 - "Will open 6 today" July 31 - "We will be closed today. Not feeling the best." July 23 - "Opening 6 today dough is not being friendly" July 5 - "Closed today" June 27 - "Opening 7am" June 26 - "Closed" June 25 - "Open at 6" June 21 - "Sorry...no one to make donuts tonight" June 17 - "Sorry we will be closed my head is not feeling right." June 13 - "Open at 6 today got a late start" May 31 - "Closed till Tuesday" May 30 - "Sorry all we are closed for today this has been a bad month" May 24 - "Closed for weather" May 22 - "We will be closed today" May 18 - "We will be closed today" May 13 - "Apologize about yesterday but we really didn't think anyone wanted contaminated donuts" May 4 - "Closed this morning"
FYI, their stated hours on Google and their front door are:
M - F 5am to 11am S - S 6am - 11am.
The owner usually has an excuse ready. Her husband screwed up the dough. The dog ate their supply. Whatever.
Each time I visit, I spend money on gas just for the CHANCE to spend money with you only to find out I've wasted gas and time and now have to listen to my kid's disappointment when I explain why we drove all the way out just so we can turn around and drive all the way home with nothing. Look, if you can't run this business, sell it to someone who can.
For everyone who lives in Willard, get donuts at the Washboard Cafe or at the Apple Market grocery store. They're not Daylight, but you'll save time, gas, and disappointment AND you'll actually come away...
Read moreGot up early to be there to get fresh donuts. They were nice enough to let me in when I pulled up even though it was 10 minutes before opening, thus the 2 stars. This is my 1st time getting donuts here. I don't mind paying almost $10 for a dozen of good donuts but these are far from good. They are small and there is no way these are fresh. They may have been glazed within the past few hours, but the cake donuts are hard. They also taste like old grease. Needless to say, I...
Read moreWould absolutely go here all the time for the amazing donuts but I don't even try anymore. They no longer have set hours and they appearently can come and leave as they like, so when I drive from republic in the morning just to get your donuts and you aren't open when even you have it posted on your door you are it can be quite annoying. Don't bother with this location it will probably be a waste...
