Let me just start off with I have been going to Denny's for the whole entirety of my life. I love Denny's. It has locations all over the United States, which makes it very nice to find one whenever you are having a craving for it. Now, I will also say that I was a Training Assistant General Manager of a restaurant chain out on the West Coast so my standards are very high. I want to say how appalled I was this morning when going in to pickup my Togo order with my mother in law. I would also like to state that I have worked Very busy Sunday mornings and during the church rush for many years as well so I like to do takeout to relieve some of the stress on the employees. BUT and this is a big one. I felt completely disrespected and Slapped in the face by the front of house trainer. She was stressed I could tell. The store was at what I would consider a medium busy so nothing that the staff couldn't handle. We waited for the staff to greet us. No greeting! Then we politely waited until someone wasn't busy and let them know that we were there to pickup Two Togo orders and we were told Hold on let us check. No worries. This is fine, when the order was brought to us we started to pull everything out of the bag and at this time the "hostess" if you could call her that, barks at the trainee Stacey and I that " You don't need to check the order it's all there!!!!" I was completely slapped in the face. Excuse me but I live 15 minutes away from your location lady I have also just ordered for 7 people and would like to Not have to tell any of them that I am sorry that they don't get to eat. Especially since 4 of them are children that don't understand anything other than they are hungry. Guess what! We had missing items. So!!! I would also like to say that during the 45 minutes that we had to wait for the Missing food. Not one time did the Manager come out to de-escalate the issue or to see what the problem was. So in the future I will not be eating from this location ever again. The only advice I could give the staff at this location is Quit your job because if you think it's okay to put the rudest person at the front of your building I'm scared to see how the managers, servers and cooks for that matter treat the Customers! Remember customers are paying Denny's (120$ for just our two orders) in order for them to pay you to pay your bills. You give respect you get respect. Thank you for your time and attention to this...
Read moreI think this is a problem with any chain in Springfield. I don't know if it is the employee turnover rate or what, but it felt like every worker was losing their mind and the restaurant was maybe at half capacity. Food took a long time to come out. We could hear the kitchen staff and service staff arguing within earshot of the table. Multiple parts of our order were missing and we had to ask our waiters for them again. Our waiters (one went on break) were nice, but this place just feels mismanaged. We waited 10 minutes for waters. My food wasn't even good but the two others in my party were even more disappointed. My hash browns were basically raw, the grandslamwich was fine. My girlfriend ordered a skillet that looked like a grey slop. We were charged a whole dollar for maybe two tablespoons of ranch which is the only thing that made my girlfriend's food edible. Another friend that joined us ordered another side he never got. I don't blame anyone working here because I would never get upset at someone just trying to make a living. But also I'll never be coming back.
This is the first restaurant that has driven me to write a review. I know it is just a chain, so I didn't expect much, I was just expecting a simple breakfast. Even if I wasn't blown away I probably would've been happy. But this is perhaps the most mediocre dining experience I have ever suffered through. Even a fast-food breakfast sandwich and a two-dollar coffee would have been a million-times better than this, and I wouldn't have had to sit in a depressing restaurant...
Read moreI was reminded why I typically do not dine at Dennys from my experience today....only reason that brought me in was a free breakfast for my birthday through the app. I sat myself and my wife, as the one waitress available upon arrival was busy with customers. Wife ordered a baja skillet, asking for the Verde sauce on the side, which the waitress noted. Breakfasts brought out, mine was fine, wife's had sauce covering the skillet, no scrambled eggs and no tortillas which are to be included in this skillet. Had to request it be redone, as my wife cannot eat spicy foods. Upon requesting the remake, could clearly hear the cook and waitress arguing about it (think of Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmare shows). Waitress returned and apologized, that she had noted the sauce on the side; i offered to go to the kitchen and make it myself, since it was clear the cook did not know what the meal included. When the second meal came (after we had already completed my meal and sat a bit), now the skillet has an omelet on top (instead of scrambled eggs mixed within the potatoes), tortillas were provided, but now no avocado. At this point, we just gave up, ate what was provided, and left. Doubtful I will return for my free meal next year, free is too much to pay for Dennys food. I am surprised Dennys is still in business, as a new low is achieved every visit. Utterly ridiculous. The first picture is what we got after the remake and adding some ketchup and sour cream, the second is what it is supposed to look like...
