Otherwise known as the Dunkin' Donuts at "The X" intersection, one of the more distinctive ones in the area at a prominent, high-traffic and clustered epicenter of Springfield-area towns.
In past years it's escaped me as to why this one has managed to evade any major updates like the hundreds of other shops in the 99 mile radius. This one still has the cosmetic "charms" of the chain reflecting back to the 80's with a cheaply painted-over hut-like roof and noticably dated signage. Though fills me with warmth to see such a "vintage" shop these days, sadly now needs some TLC. Cracked and uneven floor, no drive-thru and no restrooms for patrons are just a few things that make this shop a little more unwelcoming and a sanitarily questionable.
Though my visits to this one are rare, customers who frequent here because of a mixed area of colleges and distressed property are also by far some of the more seedier folks in and outside of the shop.
Cosmetics aside, a black coffee is balanced, consistent and flavorful; reminiscent of the chain before shops remodeled and changed the taste of coffee to newer standards (resulting in often replaced BUNN equipment, watered down coffee).
Today, I found it a little off-putting how the franchisee nickel-n-dimed $.25 for a cup of water for a paying customer and didn't say anything to the man off the street who took a slab of straws and napkins without buying anything. Extra slap in the face when the supervisor made sure I was charged for it -- resulting in me not tipping. Never had this happen in my 10+ years of my frequenting...
Read moreComplete incompetence! I pulled up at the drive through and ordered 6 glazed and 6 chocolate frosted, which is what I get at every other location and have never had a problem. But they were confused by the terminology "chocolate frosted" so I said the glazed donuts with the chocolate frosting. They finally bring out the box and it has 6 glazed and 6 double chocolate. I told them this is not what I want and they said very rudely "well you said you wanted chocolate on chocolate." These words had never escaped my mouth yet they insisted that they were right. They finally go to trade out their incorrect arguing and they switch them out for chocolate glaze - also incorrect. I told them this is not what I wanted either. At this point another lady comes over and very rudely says "what do you want?" I told her glazed donuts with chocolate icing. She replies very rudely "that's called chocolate frosted ma'am" which is what I ordered and they were confused. She finally brings me a box of the correct order and throws it out the window, not even completely closed and said "you did order chocolate on chocolate" and walked away. I never ordered chocolate on chocolate and she was just saying that to make them seem right which they were completely 100% in the wrong. I also had to wait for a very long time with a hungry toddler in the backseat while all of this was happening. Will not return to this...
Read more2 times out of 10 you might get what you asked for with decent service. The rest of the time the coffee is old/burnt or weak from re-brewing old grounds. Coffee is never fresh and never made the way you ask. It’s pointless.. unless you like giving away your money for food and drink that’s terrible? Over and over it’s always wrong and they always treat you like dirt. I literally drive out of my way, out of Springfield to get to a location where whoever is in charge of hiring has made some smart choices. I figure if I’m gonna spend my hard-earned money I’d like to not be treated like scum. Cause guess what Dunkin’.. nobody needs to spend their money at your establishment and if you don’t get your act together, you’ll go out of business just like the rest of the restaurants that couldn’t keep up with the times. You’re not immune. You’re sitting on a gold, mine, and you’re either too dumb or lazy to run this business properly. I watch people drive out of line constantly. Been living near here for 30 years. It was actually great before the renovation. Not sure what happened at that point. I think they lost all their long-time solid employees… Now it’s...
