Flacos House (Springfield) — Restaurant in Springfield

To be clear the host, waitress were very friendly and were fast and efficient. However, this is about the food and quality for price. I was so incredibly excited for Flacos to open up in Springfield, as I could eat Mexican food daily and having a restaurant close that catered to that was amazing. We order some of everything to try out. I was ultimately very disappointed with the quality of the food- meat lacked flavor, and the taste was a somewhat of a hit or miss. I ordered veggie tacos as well, and their idea of a veggie taco ($3) is rice and bland beans. Three dollars. Cheese, lettuce, veggies, anything that actually makes up a veggie taco are additional charges. Rice and beans aren't a veggie taco, nor should anyone have to pay $5 to get an actual veggie taco. I was also shocked that Chips and salsa don't come with the meal, as it is a standard for every Mexican restaurant. While I understand the cost of running a business, and a restaurant at that, the prices more than cover the cost of chips and salsa for diners. I am really hoping the quality and what constitutes a meal gets better, because I truly would love to have a good Mexican place to recommend to people and go to. I will try Flacos out again monthly to see if they have changed, and will change or update my review if they do. As of right now, I will go an additional 10 miles out of my way to Jalapenos or El Real because it's better food and better prices. Hopefully...

The service is really slow. Atmosphere is now that of a sports bar with the hint of a Mexican restaurant. There is clearly a consistent bar patronage that just gets loud and cusses time you get there till they close so it is definitely not as child friendly as they used to be. Worst part is the hosts stand and chat it up instead of making the drinks or serving food so the wait for anything is pretty long. As for the food it was extremely good when they first opened BUT now it is generic and bland. The shrimp are fried way to long and reminded us of the freeze dried shrimp in a ramen cup. It was extremely tough and chewy. The flaco bowl is dry when they used to be very good but now you need to request some type of sauce to be able to get it down. Super disappointed where this went. I love coming here with my family we are regulars at this location but tonight was questionable when I ordered the girl at the counter (wearing messy brown lipstick) had a I hate this job and I hate talking to you attitude I ordered then my boyfriend ordered when he did she didn’t say anything just glared at him then she asked if I wanted anything else he had asked if she got the cheesecake she cut him off and told him in a very rude manner that “I need to finish her order before I can take yours” so she looked at me I was confused I didn’t know what she wanted me to say then she said “so what drink do you want?!” Not to mention that we asked about getting chips “are you eating here?
