Stacks Hamburger Stand — Restaurant in Springfield

First I wanna give props. Stacks makes a great chz burger and the staff is always so friendly. I have been a fan ever since I found out about stacks about 5 years ago. Any time I'm working in the area I'm getting lunch there. It used to be very clean in there but lately it seems the workers stopped caring. Is there health inspections in Effingham? If so they must be blind. As soon as you walk in the first thing you see is a filthy drink fountain. I was there 2 weeks ago and I asked the boy do they ever clean it he says yes. Came back today it looks the same. stickiness and visible black mold. I took one of the nozzles off and pulled a bunch of black mold out with my finger. I showed the guy this but he didn't seem too concerned. Now they got me wondering what the grill and frier looks like?! I kept pressing the issue I said man yall gonna make someone sick this isn't hard to clean. He called the manager to ask what to do I guess. As if you really needed to. Just get some soapy water and sanitizer and clean the dang thing. Is anyone running the place or do yall just turn these kids a loose in there? Kids these days you have to teach them how to give a dam cause they won't. I mean I walked in and they was just standing around talking. That's time they could of been cleaning. I hope the owner sees this and makes the change. If I see it next time (3rd times a charm) I'm just gonna call the health depo myself there is no excuse for that. Hate to see this like I said when I first started eating here everything was on point....

Very disappointed with my recent visit this evening. No one is wearing masks. Had I not already ordered and paid I would’ve left. 3 teenage boys working and they were more occupied with throwing cups at each other and cussing, than taking care of the customers (there were 6 different customers in store). I paid almost $13 for a chicken finger meal that looked like a kids happy meal! Ordered 3 combos but only 1 French fry in my bag. When I asked for the others one of the guys in the kitchen wanted to argue he put 3 in the bag. 3 combos were crammed into 1 small bag so after taking everything out (even though I don’t like touching other people’s food), there was only 1 container of fries. He then said he was out of containers so supposedly put 3 scoops in 1 container. The food is for different people so how did he think that would work? Out of sweet tea and not making more, even at 6:30pm. Plus the food was already cold. This place used to be outstanding but definitely needs better management and new employees and...

We used to get Stacks once a week and they were the best. Then they started (almost) always leaving the bacon off our burgers or giving us cold fries, sometimes both. But..every place has bad days and those really aren't deal breakers for us. We just started eating there less. Last time, they left off the bacon we paid for, gave us cold hard fries, DROWNED my burger in mayo and mustard and gave me 3 tiny shrivled up shreds of lettuce. Like little noodles. So it's been a little while since we went there.

Today, I really wanted to try them again after a long break. Fries, cold and hard. They gave us the bacon (which I think my husband mentioned to them that they seem to always leave off, anymore). Coincidentally, he did get his lettuce but I did not. I just don't even understand the whole lettuce situation. Is someone messing with me? 😅 It's so weird.

Honestly, they can be really good. Some days, I would have given them 5 stars. I haven't seen any of those in a good while.
