Okay-I am from Boston where I HOP originated, and in Boston I love it... Here not so much. I've tried several times thinking they would come to their senses and figure out what they were doing, but a couple years since they've been in the area and as far as I'm concerned they just don't get it.
blueberry pancakes for example
I ordered blueberry pancakes they were raw in the middle-burnt on the outside edge, there was nothing even and golden brown about these pancakes and when I didn't eat them and the waitress asked me what the problem was...I told her that the pancakes were raw inside and overcooked on the outside in other words The griddle was too hot it was cooked on the outside and not the inside..
She went on to inform me that I just didn't know what blueberry pancakes were she didn't comp my uneaten meal, no it was my fault I didn't know what a blueberry pancake was supposed to be like.. ( Insert rolled eyes) Okay maybe it was a fluke & they've gotten it together.. I tried a second time . Determined to enjoy the IHOP of my childhood This time I got something like eggs and hash browns with a side of pancakes The first bite of potatoes was salty.. Really really salty.. Like unenjoyably salty... The toast was so cold that the butter was congealing on the bread..
Third time's a charm right? I will try the other one on the other side of town I said..
I got a children's meal of silver dollar pancakes for my granddaughter. Expecting of course to get silver dollar pancakes ( crazy right?) What she got instead was 5 small regular pancakes which I guess from a consumer standpoint is better for us... However you're dealing with a small child who wanted the little pancakes, the silver dollar pancakes these were more of the size of a saucer- I mean you think I wouldn't complain because we got so much more.. Except for that is not what we ordered, that's not what my granddaughter expected to come to her plate. Both of us could have eaten from those silver dollar pancakes and been happy.. Truly. They were okay.. Like I said The griddle is too hot so they cook very quickly and very dark leaving the edges almost crispy-that is not how I would make my pancake and not what I am used to getting at IHOP for many many years.
And let me say I am not a picky eater -ATALL I will pretty much eat-anyting and for me not to be able to eat something it really has to be...
Read moreI don't recommend coming here at all. I normally don't post reviews, however the fact that I almost died as a result to eating here is prompting me to. We had to send my food back once due to me being allergic to something and when I specifically said "please don't add this" they did. Not a huge issue because I always check and noticed right away. The issue was that when I got my second plate I checked and it looked okay. I get into eating it and within a few minutes I'm not feeling well. I'm hot, clammy, throat is itching, and a sense of dread came over me. I started looking through the food and discovered that the cook had put something completely unrelated to the food (under my food) that I'm HIGHLY allergic to. It was never listed on the menu as an ingredient so I never told them to hold. Not once did I believe it would be added under my food. Once I saw it I immediately went to the hostess to ask about some Benadryl and informed her what had happened. My boyfriend was already getting the kids and our parents up and out due to my rising panic as well as his. They kept apologizing and asked us to stay for a report and I told them no, because I needed to be seem immediately. They then said they'd comp us our meal (which they didn't) and took my information to contact me later. I never received a phone call from them. I did get medical treatment and am now fine. However this incident has left me traumatized. This establishment should be ashamed of themselves and how this all went down. I don't recommend them to anyone and will highly encourage people...
Read moreI'm leaving one star only because the manager came directly to our table and apologized for what had happened. It is Christmas morning and my 80 year old mother myself and my daughter went to ihop for breakfast. The coffee pot that was on the table was filthy with food and whatever else splattered up the side of it under the spout. When the waitress came to the table, I told her about it. She said nothing, only picked it up and walked away. She returned with a different one n asked what we wanted to drink. I ordered a water with bowl of lemon wedges. She brought them out n I went to get a lemon n saw the bowl the lemons were in was covered in melted butter! I told the waitress as she was still at the table and she raised her voice, immediately becoming irritated, and says 'you know what?? Everybody's like this! Its Christmas day and I have to b here! I'll go get the manager!' She then took both of her hands and SMACKED OUR TABLE!!!!! The manager comes over and was appalled at first the dirtiness of the dishes but then of the waitress actions! She deeply apologized. I have never been treated like this by a server in my life! My 80 yr old mother doesn't believe in ever saying anything so now she's angry with me n my daughter, so what a nice way to start our...
