After living in this area for over 5 decades, I'd never heard of Joey's Pizza. I only ran across it recently while surfing the web for something else. A picture of their Pepperoni Pizza caught my eye so I investigated further. It had the same look of my favorite pepperoni pizza from back in the day when Shakey's was alive. I loved thier pizza! So I had to check this out... Okay, so the place might be a little outdated, but if you were as old as Joey's is, you'd be a little outdated as well. It's run down, and has that dark noir atmosphere, with leaking roof and dirty dishes piled high on the counter. Old pinball and vidio machines add to the classic feeling. It was raining the day I stopped in and they were only serving take out because of the water hazards. No problem, I was ordering take out anyway. So, I got a giant half pepperoni half pepperoni & pineapple (this is the only place where I've seen the Pepperoni & Pineapple option actually on the menu). It was done in short order and the counter person brought it out to me, hot and juicy. I had to have a piece right out of the oven to see if it tasted as good as it looked. Oh yes, it was hot and cheesy, wih the melty cheese stringing down; you know, the kind you have to grab and wrap around the pizza before you eat it? Yah, like that. The crust was perfect; thin and crispy on the bottom and soft and chewy on the top. The little pepperonies were cupped up with a small well of grease in thier bottoms. And Yes, it did remind me of Shakey's pizza from years gone by. I recomend the pizza. Dine in if you like, but I'll take mine to go, especially next month when my 1/2 price number comes up. That's something you'll have to checkout on your own. Bon Appit.

Ordered 4 pizzas for carry-out over the phone. This restaurant was highly rated and we were very eager to find a new pizza place. When I phoned in my orders I was informed that they were out of tomatoes. Really? Several of the pizzas list tomatoes and you’re out of a major ingredient. The picture I enclosed is the Taco pizza which was not good. We did not find any meat on it, but plenty of olives. The cost of these pizzas should guarantee we are getting all of the ingredients with some equal amounts. Having the cheese in just one portion and no meat this should have been a vegetarian taco pizza.

Joey's is an old-school, smokey pizza joint that has a few arcade games inside for your entertainment and a good amount of seating. At the recommendation of a friend we tried the gargantuan supreme pizza with three sodas, coming out to about $30. The pizza was very good and had a yummy thin crust. I'm definitely interested in trying this place again.

Darlene Hrouda never once spoke to the nephew or anyone actually in charge.

I am THE NEPHEW. No one spoke to me. No one in charge would have suggested you’re trying to get discounts. Joeys policy for anyone ANYONE who is dissatisfied is we will gladly remake a pizza or give your money back if you give us a pizza that is not to your liking and/or call us THAT DAY or the next. Not a week later with no pizza.

We also have it clearly posted at the restaurant that we do crispy crust and VERY light sauce (Crispy on the BOTTOM The “middle” as you call it, between the cheese and the part that touches the oven stone, will OBVIOUSLY be soft as it is covered with sauce and cheese. That part is not going to crisp up. It’s not raw. It’s not going to be crispy THERE any more than your sliced bread at home is going to be crispy in the middle. Crust is on the OUTSIDE.

It has been relayed to me that you are dissatisfied with the amount of sauce but refused “extra” sauce, insisting that you “just wanted it the way it’s always been.” That doesn’t help us. Either you want more sauce than you got, or less sauce than you got. Give us a quantifiable amount and we’d gladly oblige. You may stand there and watch me sauce it if you like and say “when”. I’ll run right in and prepare and cook your pizza MYSELF.

I’m sure you know it’s very hard to maintain consistency throughout the decades you’ve personally been coming in while we see employees come and go. I wish I could personally make everyone’s pizza exactly as they like it but I have to go home and care for my family every once in a while. I’m very sorry you had a bad experience, all the more, twice in a row. I hope that you can consider the hundreds of pizzas you’ve had with us as loyal customers and maybe refrain from leaving a negative review after two that went awry. I searched for all your positive reviews after those hundreds of good pizzas in the last twenty years but I dint find a single one.

Please stop interacting with Camryn on this matter. She is a 19yo employee and is wracked with...

This in NO WAY A reflection of the food. Joeys pizza has been a family tradition for 20+ years.

Here is my complaint… about two or three times a month we order pizza to go from there and every time I try to call it takes 20+ minutes to be able to get through. I get a busy signal on the phone tonight while I’m trying to watch the college football playoffs I called for over an hour automatic redial over and over again and finally after over an hour got frustrated And drove a few blocks to put in my order. When I walked in the young dark-haired girl at the front counter, I said to her “I think your phone might be off the hook “and she told me “yes we took it off the hook Because we had a couple big orders and we did not want the Wait, time to get too long”. UNACCEPTABLE & UNPROFESSIONAL 100% I placed my order and asked them to please call me when it was done. They told me it would be about 20 minutes so obviously the wait time was not that long. There was only about three or four customers in the restaurant. We love going in there and having pizza but also like I mentioned I do order from there for takeout during duck games or other sporting events. And I don’t know how many times it has taken me calling 30 or 40 times over and over again to be able to get through… When I found out today that they are purposely taking the phone off the hook I do not know that I will be going back there. Cover pizza has good pizza as well and it is an equal distance from my house. Super disappointed in this business for that type of practice and will not be going back there for anything takeout. If they were really that busy, they should still take orders and let people know exactly what the wait time will be to get their pizza and let them make their decision. Just taking the phone off the hook so people cannot get through is a very bad...

Heard from a couple people this was great place with good food so we went to try it out. First off, it is kinda dark and very old looking inside but thought hopefully the food is great so we ordered 2 pizza’s shortly after 5. Lady who took our order asked for a name and we assumed (our mistake) that they call your name out when order is ready so we sat right next to counter and waited. We had no problem waiting however long it took but when people were getting their pizza’s that ordered after us we were wondering where was ours. We also noticed that they were all given buzzers to let them know order was ready. My husband stood up and saw a couple boxes up on top of stove but still lady never said anything so we figured must not be ours so we waited longer and other people were ordering and picking up and finally after almost an hour the lady asked my husband if he wanted to order at which he replied no we already ordered and she says oh well what’s the name on your order and after he told her name she went back and got the boxes on top of oven and as she handed them to him she says I didn’t give u a vibrator & he said no and that was that. There was no apology for her mess up and who knows how long our pizza’s had been sitting up there. I understand mistakes can happen but she could have at least apologized. And to top it off our pizza’s were over cooked and the crust edges were rock hard. Not sure how they’re suppose to be as this was our first time there but crust was like a frozen pizza, very blah & like a saltine cracker. Not much sauce and the cheese was very over baked and disgusting. I’ve tried a lot of pizza’s and this was the worst! Maybe it was just a bad batch or maybe my family just doesn’t like this pizza but for us it was not worth the $60...
