Mama G’s kitchen — Restaurant in Springfield

WHOA. How is it possible that I've not heard one thing about Mama G’s Kitchen_Lovely Creations ?!?! We went to Where House Bar last night where Mama's was set up ready to serve everyone at the Marley Bash. My boyfriend tried a meatloaf dinner with mac & cheese and corn and I had the catfish dinner with collard greens and spicy cabbage and both meals came with cornbread. HOLY MOLY talk about flavor!!! I am always taking half of all of my meals home, but we both finished every last bite (it was so good we couldn't even stop to take a pic! Lol) The catfish was fried to perfection, with the crispiest cornmeal breading I've probably ever had! The collards and cabbage were cooked down, but not at all mushy.. and were bursting with flavor! The meatloaf was tender and juicy (come to find out they use Wagyu!) ..and that Mac!! We try Mac absolutely everywhere and it's hands down one of the best, in our opinion, in Springfield!! It's creamy with a slight sharpness and just a smidge of a smoky flavor. Staff mentioned that they are currently setting up there next to Where house bar, in the Metro eats plaza, every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. If you love good soul food made with love.... Im from Saint Louis, been trying to look for some places to eat food since I’m traveling for 3 months on a travel assignment. Came into this place best food spot down here. They honey hot chicken so good had that with some fries🔥🔥🔥🔥 plus it’s black owned so you know I had to pull up to support the culture ✊🏿✊🏿. And when I say everything was a 10/10. From the service, the food, drinks, parking,bathrooms was hella clean. Service and food was so good that every time I come here for travel assignment I’m coming here. I meet mama g and she was so nice. I will always spend my money with her ✊🏿✊🏿. This is the best place to eat in this city hands down. I give her 100/100. She treat the workers good too. I can tell her and the staff are like family. The service was so good I thought she was my cousin😭😭. Just the whole experience made me think about the time my granny used to cook soul food on Sunday's after church. She will be getting my money every time. And also the drinks was hella good. My wife and I went to the grand opening of the new location downtown on college Street and it was great! I had the sampler with catfish and meatloaf while my wife has the chicken tenders everything we had was super tasty and well. The meatloaf was juicy but not soggy and the catfish tenders were flaky and delicious. My wife's chicken tenders were seasoned to perfection and had the perfect crispy crunch while still being tender and moist inside. The Mac and cheese was to die for as well. I can't recommend this place enough! The only disappointment I had was they did not have their rabbit in stock yet but I'll just have to go back to try that too!
