I love Chinese and Asian food so much- we were excited to try this place. First off the service was not starting off good. The server did not know English very well and she was not able to explain to me anything about any of the dishes and she had tried nothing so had no idea what was good. we ordered chicken fried rice twice fried pork and Szechuan beef. For $14 the chicken fried chicken had a very small portion and had the tiniest pieces of chicken I’ve ever seen and hardly any at that. the Szechuan beef had the oiliest sauce I’ve ever seen. Pure oil. Onion and beef with bones in it. I tried it and it had hardly any flavor and what spice they did use, tasted more Indian than Chinese. Gross. Then the twice fried pork looked more like pieces of pork belly, and it was completely doused in oil again. Like a half inch of oil on my plate. Not that flavorful either- Never seen anything like it. I asked my server if the dishes were always so oily since me and my husband were extremely disappointed and she said yes and just walked away. We had to ask the server to get drinks twice because we couldn’t find her so my husband had to go out physically ask her both times we needed a drink. Then, after we asked about how oily the dish was, the Asian chef comes out and starts mugging on me. I could not believe it. He was seriously sitting there staring at me, like he as so offended I said his food was oily. We paid and vowed to never return- don’t waste your time- I’ve Worked at Asian restaurants and I Grew up next to Asian people who I got very close to and would cook for us all the time, and I have never seen that much oil in a dish in my life. Don’t waste your hard earned money here. also a note to the chef or the owner of this place, you should Probably act a little bit more grateful when you have people coming into your completely empty restaurant because people that have children don’t go Out very much and you kind of ruined our one night out. At least we know...
Read moreTerrible! Terrible restaurant! Walk in to no one to greet us, stuff strewn about the restaurant over tables and the bar, and one of the workers just listening to his giant headphones at the window. After we get seated I ask for a Coke and it comes out flat...? Guess no soda today so I get a water.
We order the fried pork and mushroom dumplings, schezwan chicken, and pineapple Chechen fried rice. Waitress doesn't write it down and messes up order before walking away. Repeat order again.
Dumplings come out first and they're bland and tasteless. I'm used to Corner 21's dumplings and these area no where close. Bad sign for the rest of the meal. My schezwan "chicken" comes out and I immediately see that there's something wrong with it. There's giant pork bones in it. I tell the waitress that it's obviously pork. It's fatty and chewy white meat and the bones are gigantic for a chicken and have solid marrow. Tell the waitress this is not what I ordered, she goes into the back and talks to someone in hindi, comes back out and tells me it's chicken. Okay... I push the food off while I wait for my friend to eat his fried rice. Waitress comes back out and asks me if I still believe it's pork. Lol It is pork and has terrible flavor.
What I think happened is she messed my order up because she walked away half way through us ordering to do something, they didn't want to make me another order, and then tried to gaslight me into thinking it...
Read moreI find it difficult to leave a negative review, especially since Springfield needs more authentic restaurants. The dumplings appear to be homemade, which is a nice change from places serving frozen dumplings from their suppliers. However, our Pork and Mushroom Dumplings were bland, and the texture was very inconsistent. The Shrimp and Pineapple Fried Rice was warm and did not taste like it came fresh off the wok. The plating was excessive with the Sriracha sauce and the way they scooped the rice onto the plate. I liked the crunch of the edamame in the fried rice, but I don't think this is authentic. The Clay Pot Rice with Beef in Satay Sauce, bo zai fan, had undercooked rice. The bottom of the bowl lacked the crunchy and burnt rice that is typically associated with this dish. The waitress had no knowledge of the menu, but this may have been because I visited when they had just opened. I liked the modern feel of the interior. They also gave us free merch, which was cool. However, for a restaurant claiming to be authentic, the food was...
