While out driving around we came across this lovely little country style restaurant in Springfield. I ordered the breakfast special for $7.95 (3 eggs, real, bone-in, ham steak, hashbrowns and 2 blueberry pancakes) back of the menu. The real, home-made pancakes had at least two cups of farm fresh blueberry's in them and were bigger than the large plate they were served on. The hashbrowns covered over half the other large plate with my three eggs and medium size ham steak.
I could go on and on about this place, but I'll spare you. It's just as good as any Texas country breakfast that you will ever eat with prices that can't be beat. Everything is homemade from scratch just like grandma used to make.
There is no way there is a better breakfast value anywhere in the Springfield/Eugene area. Two adults could easily split one plate and leave full. You must try it to believe it! Well worth the drive. And, thanks to our waitress, Cheryl,f making our visit even a more wonderful experience.
On a second visit I ordered the 4.95 mini Denver omelette with hashbrowns and a pancake and added blueberries to the pancake for an additional $1, so $6.95 total, which is unbelievable for what you get. The omelette was not "mini" but rather normal size and to my surprise was filled with real ham, onion, bell pepper with cheese in top. Again, large portions and no better value anywhere. But there was one problem on my second visit, the hashbrowns came out almost raw after ordering well done. So I sent them back and they came out raw again with just a touch of brown. The waitress said that the cook said he couldn't get them any browner which anyone with a brain knows can not be true. I'm not sure what it is about restaurants that want to serve raw hashbrowns but it's really ridiculous. Turn up the fire and add some oil and you can burn the hashbrowns. Anyway, considering the value, I almost don't like to mention this minor detail. But if you go to eat here, be advised to tell the waitress you want well-done, VERY BROWN, hashbrowns so the cook will get the point. My first visit I did not have this problem but there was a lady cook. My second visit was a man, so I think that it's hit or miss depending on who you get as a cook. So I deducted one-star for the raw hashbrowns after telling them twice I wanted well done.
And, now Ye Old Pancake House, in Eugene on 11th, returns as my favorite breakfast spot because I would rather pay more for consistency. Unlike Steve's, Ye Old Pancake House understands the meaning of well done hashbowns.
But again, a minor thing considering the value. I reiterate, nothing can beat Steve's for a...
Read moreI've been going to the bar located behind it ever since it was Goodfellas 10 years ago, which it is now called Even Steven's Bar and Grill. Always has had good breakfast. I will say they used to have a special breakfast at the bar where you could get a Bloody Mary, an omelet, and Bacon for $6...wish they still had that, lol. The restaurant also has video lottery machines if you're into that kinda thing. All in all, it's a nice little breakfast place with good food, friendly staff and fast service. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good, quick breakfast meal. I will add as a side note that the bar behind it for some reason isn't on Google maps. Google will only take people to the restaurant, so I feel that should be updated to ensure people can find it since the owner of the restaurant owns both. People aren't the brightest, lol, and I've invited people to their karaoke nights just to have them leave because they couldn't find it, and I missed their calls lol, so taking a few minutes to update the Google location in order to maximize potential customer satisfaction when they search for it should be a...
Read moreMy first time there. Waited 20 minutes to be seated (no one even acknowledged that we were there the whole time) once I decided I wanted to try a different place, a waitress came over and told us to sit at a table, then walked away. We were forgotten about for a while, then we were given menus. We were able to get our order placed and were brought coffee pretty quickly. I took the first sip, it tasted like cheap burnt coffee. Needless to say, I didn't drink it. We waited an hour and 10 minutes to get our food. I was too hungry to leave and find a different place. The food looked presentable and delicious. I could tell right away with my first bite the ingredients were subpar. I only ate because I was starving. I only ate enough to satisfy the pang of hunger. We won't be back. The service was terrible, the food was terrible, the setting...
