We had dinner the other night at Thai Square, the sister restaurant of nearby Rama Thai, and overall it was excellent. We enjoyed the ambience of the lovely old Victorian home with its rich woods and high ceilings, and the service was top-notch. More importantly, the food was excellent, as well.
The signature dish by which all Thai restaurants must be judged, of course, is Pad Thai, and Thai Square offers a dish called Egg Wrapped Pad Thai Noodle. The dish is offered with glass or thin rice noodles, and true to its name, it came wrapped in a thin layer of egg. My companion chose the traditional thin rice noodles, and the flavors were perfect. It even came with chopped peanuts on the side so you can determine how much peanut flavor you prefer in your Pad Thai. I had the Khao Moo Dang, or thin BBQ pork with sweet sauce served with rice, and it was very good, as well.
As other reviewers have noted, the selection is relatively limited compared to most restaurants, including Rama Thai. The menu offers 5 appetizers, 15 entrées, 2 kid’s offerings and 6 beverages. That’s it, but it seems to be enough. Better yet, the prices seem reasonable, relatively speaking. Appetizers cost $6-7, and all the entrées cost $14 except the Pla Koong Yang, a prawn salad with lemongrass and mint sauce that cost $17. The only caveat to my review is that we were one of only three couples in the restaurant that night, and as more people learn about this great new Thai restaurant, it’s sure to get busier. That could affect the level of service, but I doubt it because it seems like the people at Thai Square really care about their customers, and I highly recommend giving this new...
Read moreThis is a very special atmosphere! An older house as a restaurant (it used to be Metropolitan Grill, I believe) is quaint, different, and enjoyable!
The food is high caliber, the prices are reasonable ($15/plate), and I would DEFINITELY recommend Thai Square!
Sunday Lunch with Mom - RESTAURANT #75! She had Pad Thai with chicken, I had Panang Curry with chicken. We also tried the fresh spring rolls!
Mom LOVED the Pad Thai (high praise! She’s hard to impress!), and I found the Panang Curry perfectly spiced (just right spiciness for me). The fresh spring rolls had great sauce, but we’ve had better (check out our other experiences).
Mom and I also found our server to be soooo sweet and helpful!
Overall a pleasant...
Read moreI’m pretty picky and have written like 2 restaurant reviews in my 27 years on earth. And they were both to warn people to stay away. So I don’t write this lightly.
This is the best Thai Food I’ve ever had. And the best meal I’ve had so far (2 months in) in 2024. Service was amazing. Food came out fast. Entree I don’t know the name of came with a little soup and salad (afterthoughts at all oriental restaurants ever) but here the soup and salad were amazing as well. Atmosphere was awesome. Everything was just amazing. Dish was a breaded fried chicken breast over fried rice with Thai chili sauce. I can’t explain how damn good this was. Just a great experience and it was $15....
