The Coffee Ethic — Restaurant in Springfield

I recently swung by The Coffee Ethic Cafe, and wow, what a letdown. First off, the service was just awful. Not a single smile from anyone. Seriously, it felt like I was bothering them just by being there.

I thought I’d treat myself to a hot chocolate, especially since it cost over $5 for a tiny cup. I was expecting something special—maybe made with melted Toblerone or Ferrero Rocher. But nope! It was like they just dumped a spoonful of hot chocolate powder into warm milk. For that price, I expected way more than this sad excuse for a drink!

And then they had the audacity to ask for a tip over 20%. Are you kidding me? When you’re charging those prices and the service is so terrible, there’s no way I’m tipping that much. Honestly, if they’re going to rip us off like this, I hope their staff is at least making $25 an hour because there is no need for these prices.

There’s a huge difference between raising prices because of inflation and just flat-out screwing over your customers. The Coffee Ethic Cafe definitely crossed that line. I left feeling...

This coffee shop is everything you expect in a 5 Star coffee shop. First criteria for a coffee shop should always be the coffee, and here it is definitely the showcase. The roaster is on full display, and the fragrance of roasting beans is in the air. There is always a wonderful rotation of single origin coffees available, great cold brew, and authentic espresso drinks. The atmosphere is what you would expect from a coffee shop located on a downtown square with its exposed brick walls, and historic hardwood floors. The cinnamon rolls are spectacular, but if that is not for you, there are other bakery options available. Never again. Definitely not worth the $5.25 I paid for it. The guy that 'helped' me, ignored me for about 3 minutes while he made a cup of coffee for someone. Not a huge deal, but a little acknowledgment would be nice. I bought a latte and paid for it. After I ordered, two other people came up behind me and ordered. He then filled their order, and they left before even starting to make my coffee. Extremely rude. 13 minutes later (I timed it) I got my 12 oz latte. Total time was about 16 minutes from the time I walked in the door with no one in front of me. The coffee wasn't great. Almost terrible. Will never go there again and can't...
