The Roost Bar & Grill (Sunshine) — Restaurant in Springfield

I originally wrote an email to the restaurant but got no response. So, I’m just gonna go ahead with the review, for the sake of general knowledge. A few weeks ago was my birthday and I wanted to get some good wings. I looked online and saw The Roost’s .69 wing special. I didn’t, however, see that it was boneless wings. Not good. Anyway, not knowing any better, I decided to go to the Roost. When the “wings” arrived at the table I was let down. Majorly. My dad was like, “It said right on the ad that it was boneless wings.” I shrugged. So, I dealt with it. We started eating them, and as good as the sauce on the chicken was, it didn’t much matter because the cuts of chicken or whatever were awful. Seemingly low quality. I told my wife later it was like eating lamb fries or testicles or just a meat with a tough gristly chewed-up texture. Just odd. I didn’t even finish them. I didn’t complain because it was my birthday dinner and my parents were paying, and I didn’t want to make them feel bad. However, since then, I’ve talked with my dad and he pretty much agreed with my analysis, so I decided to go ahead with this review. To make matters worse, my wife ordered a bacon cheeseburger and onion rings and said the quality of the burger was a step above McDonalds, but nowhere near as good as Colton’s or someplace like that. Plus, she said the onion rings were flavorless. I’m beyond disappointed, wasting my birthday dinner on this place. In retrospect, I should have gone with real wings from someplace like Wingstop. I will never understand the boneless wings concept. It’s just not wings, so why pretend that they are? But, if you are going to pretend that they are, the chicken should be white meat, and of a somewhat high quality. Not what we got at The Roost. I’m not sure what I was asking by writing them an email. I knew they were a pub with pub food. I guess I just expected something more. Something better. And I guess that’s on me. After we sat down at our table we waited for a server to come greet us, over 10 minutes passed and about 4 servers walked by us not one recognized us, one was even sitting at a table next to us chatting with other customers. Finally a server asked us if we had been helped, he took our drink order then left. Another server stopped by with menu’s and we told her we already had our drink order taken. A couple minutes later a third server stopped by and we told her the same thing, another server took our drink order. The server who took our drink passed us about 4 times without bringing our drinks, the bartender came over and said he was told our drink order was taken but he never received it so he would take our drink order. The original server never came back by. A different server finally took our order, two tables that arrived after us received their order before ours was even taken. After about an hour after we arrived we got our meal, the waitress dropped it off then left, we thought going to get my wife’s meal that wasn’t brought out with mine. 10 minutes later the waitress stopped by and asked if we needed anything, we said yes my wife’s meal that still wasn’t there. Another 15 minutes goes by the waitress stopped back by and again asked if we needed anything, yes, my wife’s meal. Apparently she forgot a second time. After about another 15 minutes the bartender brings her meal out, the waitress wouldn’t come to our table. After about two hours there the waitress brings us our check, no apologies no discounts no anything, I didn’t want a discount but an offer would have been nice. I will never be back at his pub again. We came in and waited for a waitress on Sunday 9/13/2015 after 12pm with my family. Finally a waitress came in and she was very rude. Then another waitress came by she had i think she had red hair. She was nice the other lady had brown shoulder lenght hair. We asked her if they played greenbay packer game. Seeings they had the other games on and had a lot of tvs. They advertise sport friendly and good food. The should lenght brown headed girl with out checking she said real quick we don't play greenbay packer games here and never asked us if we needed food she just left. The other waitress that was real nice (red headed)she asked us if she could help us. We told her we have been all over springfield mo and there is no place playing the green bay packer game and we was wondering if they had it on. She went to check and was real nice and explained no we don't have that channel the other girl never did any of theat she acted like her blood pressure was up and she had no passion and she hated us before knowing us. were real nice people who would of enjoyed a cool place and brought crowds in and more money for the pub/bar/grill. We never got a menu or got asked about food so we left. Without eatting we never knew what there food was like was very interested. But, I will never come back my daughter is in college and I will be letting her know not to bring...
