Travellers House Coffee & Tea — Restaurant in Springfield

Visited 2/17 - When I decided to stop in, I wasn't expecting to be impressed. A lot of coffee houses look nice but are disappointing. But this place is first rate. This is the first place in Springfield I've been in the 13 years I've lived here where the milk is steamed properly, including two other long time, popular coffee houses that I also love and visit frequently. This time, mid day, I opted for the "Sticky Chai"... (Highly recommend that if you enjoy a good chai latte). My drink was perfect, the place impeccably clean, and the crew working there very friendly and welcoming. I looked out of place, being a blue collar worker in jeans & work boots, but I know the coffee & tea business well, having worked in it myself. First time visit, my mom and I each ordered a seasonal special. Mine was the maple caramel spice latte and hers was the apple spiced chai latte, both were delicious! The maple caramel had a great coffee flavor and wasn't overly sweet. The apple chai tasted like apple cider mixed with a chai latte and was pleasantly unique. The atmosphere is open and welcoming with seating that makes great use of the space. There are tables with chairs and booth seating as well as two little nooks with armchairs. This location has a fireplace feature seperating the nooks but it was not turned on during our visit. The customer service was great and the staff was very organized and quick with our orders. Great opportunity to try another coffee shop across the street from Missouri State University. Instead of the Potter's House because I heard tell at the last minute it was closed! Great view of National Avenue and Missouri State University from indoors, and the atmosphere is beautiful and even contemporary for the late 2010s (this coffee shop is part of Boomer Town Studios, which opened in 2018). They also brew really good coffee!
