Wow!
DOUBLE WOW!!
I had been striking out on where to eat dinner on this Sunday night after a couple of long days and nights. I Googled. I drove around. And thought about the possibilities...
So here I am, parked outside what's now known as "crumbl cookies" going over options and I happen to look across the street where I saw a pretty full parking lot at a place called, of all things, "Yummy Bowl."
Now my first reaction was not positive for I remembered how my son-in-law had gone to Yummy Crab for his birthday dinner and he wasn't happy with the experience. Yet, I am a little adventurous and checked them out online.
I was impressed. It has a 4.7 rating and comments seemed positive. So I took the next step and went on their website to look there. OK, fairly professional AND the menu looked reasonable AND tasty.
What the Heck, I decided to call and decide after I determined how long a wait it would be for in the restaurant or take out, and they urged me to come inside and eat as there was no wait. Figured I would go inside and check for myself...
While the counter was busy and they had plenty of staff, the traffic flow of customers had no slowdowns or roadblocks. AND, i could see that everyone who had eaten there tonight had left with a smile.
I decided to eat inside.
Luckily, they paired me with an excellent server who knew the ropes and not only shared them with BUT ESCORTED me down the line to choose what I wanted in my, ahem, YUMMY BOWL.
HOLY Criminy, do they offer the ingredients to choose from, AND as he suggested, I went ahead and smooshed the contents so I could maximize my meal experience.
Then it came to the sauces to add for the stir fry And while I didn't want anything hot and spicy, and had come in decided to use their Hibachi sauce, a patron in line saw me sampling that selection AND strongly urged me to try a different choice, and I glad I did!
So try the DRAGON SAUCE and don't let the name scare you as it's quite tasty, and I do not have flames coming out of any of my orifices!
All I had to do was put the sauce in two plastic cups for the stir fry, drop off my filled above the brim bowl with noodles, broccoli, eggs (for the rice), mushrooms, green beans, and a few other veggies. Plus the primary which in my case, included squid, fish, salmon, bay scallops, oysters, lots of shrimp, and...I can't recall.
I did order some Salmon and Avocado rolls, and they were tasty, but I hadn't even gotten through half of them when my (now cooked) bowl returned to my table. And, yes, it looked Yummy (see picture below) too.
But the proof is in the pudding they say, but this was a lot more than pudding! Yes, indeed!!
It was a meal to be savored and experience ALL the different YUMMY (there's that word again) flavors, textures, and the like. It was some of the best __ food I ever had. I would have licked the bowl if it wasn't such a public place....
So here I am sitting in my car typing out this review so others can (hopefully) learn where to go for a truly, wait for it, YUMMY MEAL!
It was a "Two thumbs up and a snap" with an added twist, cause it was...
Read moreWasn't sure what the new place was but wife wanted to try it. I was thinking maybe a fancy ramen place but was wrong and very happy about it. So we tried it. Place was clean and staff wonderful. Our server said she was new but we couldn't tell. She answered all our questions and was very knowledgeable about the menu and how to get the foods. If she was new they must train better then any place I been in the past. Got a crab rangoon appetizer. They was one of the best I have had... Then the main event. They give you a bowl, I miss understood and went over before receiving the bowl. So I stood by the tray confused for a second, my own fault LOL. She brought it over to me, sure I'm not the only one to have done this. Back to the foods. You go down the line and put what you want in the foods. Start with various noodles, then meats. They had a wide selection from beef and chicken to the more exotic like octopus. I was surprised by the options. I grabbed a variety to try most things. Then the veggies, I didn't grab any but they had quite a variety here as well. The usual mushrooms, various beens and some things I seen before in Oriental cooking but don't know the name. Then the sauce selection, like 10 different sauces to choose and you can taste them first. They have bottles and little spoons to taste before cooking. So you get to know what you selecting before the food is cooked. Then you give it to the cook, you can actually see them cooking the foods (after golden corral this is a huge plus for me) then you go sit and wait. Wait was not long, a lot faster then expected. The food was delish. Both the wife and I chowed down, no left overs from this place. I knew I should have stuffed the bowl with more LOL. Oh and did I mention the server, very knowledgeable and professional. If she is as new as she said I'm impressed. When dropping the check she let us know how to pay. I hate when they drop it and say nothing so you don't know if to pay them or the person in the front, it's surprising how many places make you figure it out and if you wrong you look silly LOL. So we paid cam to about 50ish including a good tip(under 35 before tip). So price was good for feeding two people...
Read more1/19/2024: We've enjoyed Yummy Bowl for several months, but this afternoon was an overall bad experience. After being seated, we waited 20 minutes for the server to bring water and to give us the tabs for the food line. My wife waited another 15 minutes because she was ordering from the menu, and I left to choose ingredients for my bowl. When I came back she was still waiting. She finally put in her order, including two eggrolls. My order was served, but not by our server. Almost 20 minutes later he brought her bowl, but no egg rolls. She never recieved them (and we weren't charged). Our server apologized, and reduced the total bill by 25% accordingly. We paid the bill and left and we wonder whether this was a one-off or how service will be from now on. It didn't help that our served spent considerable time chatting with a couple two booths away while we waited with no food.
After waiting months for Yummy Bowl to open and wondering if it ever would, we finally were able to dine there today. This a great addition to the Asian cuisines available here. My wife, Laura, had the vegetarian lunch bowl that she said was delicious. I had the "choose you own" lunch bowl with white rice, white noodles, water chestnuts, carrots, onion, green onion, egg, steak, mushrooms, broccoli, cabbage, seasoned with dragon sauce (slightly spicy), and yum, yum sauce. It was terrific. We also had pots of green tea. We'll...
