I have come here several times, I have really enjoyed the great food a most of the wait staff. Now that being said I have had 2 bad experiences in this restaurant and didn't feel like the manager really cared. Now I try to always treat people with respect but I have found it is not always mutual. I visited the cafe twice last night the first time was horrible the young lady that waited on me was very hateful and rude and after doing so I watched as she went to the manager and said something to him, then they both looked at me in a funny manner which I felt uneasy. Now I try to never complain about things because then people think you are just trying to be difficult, now I just found out not to long ago that I have skin cancer so I have been a bit emotional lately. I feel like when you go out to eat somewhere that you deserve to be treated in an appropriate manner, now I was not and I broke down crying because I have already had a tough week, I only took a few bites of my dinner and was so upset by my treatment that I got up and asked for my check and I still paid even though I didn't hardly touch my food now after I went to the register the same girl who waited on me came to me and said what's wrong, I told her to leave me alone and she kept pushing me for an answer I told her to get away from me, so the mn manager came up to me and wanted to know what happened, I went through the whole process of had happened and he said I'll take care of it. Well I left and cried and said you know that was just wrong and I didn't even get enjoy my meal cause I was crying so hard I just couldn't eat. I decided you know I'm gonna go back because I am hungry dammit and I paid for a meal I didn't even eat so when I walked in the manager said is there something I can help you with, I said I would like to eat now and I want a different server. Now unbeknownst to me a regular had over heard and seen everything that happened earlier and said that young lady has a chip on her shoulder and that it's a racial thing so that being said I hope you being the owner personally take care of the issue. Thanks for your time in...
Read moreI have been coming to Colonial Cafe since I was a small child. My experience tonight reminded me why I stopped coming. I tend to be VERY lenient because I worked in a restaurant in high school into college. I started FOH as a hostess and moved on to become a server. My experience with both tonight was awful at this location. When I walked in, I approached the podium. I stood there for 2-3 minutes while being ignored by the hostess. When she finally greeted me, she said the wait would "be a while". She couldn't quantify that with a number or even give us an idea. She told us she'd find out and walked away. She came back and instead of answering my question, she ignored me and moved on to the next person. She proceeded to do the exact same thing to them as well as the guests that came in after them. Bizarre and very rude. We got seated a few minutes later. It took over 10 minutes for our server to even greet us. She took our food and drink orders. She brought out my aunts soup but not our drinks. We asked again. Our food came and still no drinks. We had to ask a third time and finally got them. It took another 15 minutes after our food was cleared away before we saw our server again to get our check. The service from beginning to end was horrendous. To play devil's advocate, the place was busy. However, basic customer service should always be present at the absolute bare minimum, and that was lacking. When you say you're going to do something, follow through on it. That includes greeting your customers, answering their questions, and serving them the food and drink they've ordered (and are paying for).
Also, I ordered a side of fries and ice cream (I'd already eaten) and my aunt ordered a cup of chili and a caesar salad. This plus two very delinquent iced teas cost over $30. That seems very steep considering that was only for 1 entree, 1 side, and 1 dessert. I'm beyond disappointed in...
Read moreColonial Cafe offers a delightful breakfast experience that leaves a lasting impression. The atmosphere of the cafe is cozy and inviting, with charming decor that transports you to a simpler, more serene time. The menu is varied and appealing, featuring everything from hearty traditional breakfast platters to lighter, health-conscious options.
What truly sets Colonial Cafe apart, however, is the exceptional service, especially from our server Valentin. Valentin’s attentiveness and warmth enhanced our dining experience remarkably. He was knowledgeable about the menu, giving personalized recommendations that were spot-on. His timely service and genuine care for our dining needs made us feel valued and well-cared for.
Each dish we tried was a testament to the quality ingredients and skillful preparation. The French Toast sticks were fluffy and flavorful, the omelette cooked to perfection, and the 🌯 was robust and aromatic. The attention to detail in every aspect of our visit was evident, from the beautifully presented dishes to the cleanliness of the cafe.
I highly recommend Colonial Cafe for anyone looking for a top-notch breakfast experience. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, make sure to stop by and, if possible, ask for Valentin - his service will certainly make your meal memorable.
