Dukes Northwoods — Restaurant in St. Charles

We really enjoyed our visit to Duke's Northwoods. This place is a sweet spot that is really well done to resemble a bar/grill found in the Northwoods of WI. Lots of WI decor here that makes it fun to spot all the WI stuff.

The place was pretty packed around 330 in the afternoon and the wait had two people ahead of us. Their app said 15 minutes after we put our name in and that's about what it took to get our table.

We ordered some drinks and the cheese curds for an appetizer. The cheese curds were fantastic. I wish they put more on the tray. It wasn't very full. Their beer menu is great with some local STC beers on tap as well as a good cocktail list. My wife ordered their bloody Mary and it was great.

For meals my wife and I split their Door County Salad and the Morning Glory Burger. both were also very good and we highly recommend them. The burger had bacon and egg ok it and the burger had a coffee rub as well.

Given the great quality that we've had at Flagship, we knew this place would also be great two since they're both under the same ownership.

Out for a Friday night Burger and Beer. Sat at the bar and wife ordered the Butter Burger and I the Morning Glory Burger. The Burgers were 8oz and thick patty done to perfection (we go for Med-Well) and yet juicy and delicious. The Fries are so-so, we prefer the larger steak or crinkle cut fries. The atmosphere was reminiscent of a Wisconsin Bar with all of the Wisconsin decor. Great beer selection (on tap and cans/bottles) and I was impressed with the scotch selection as well. When a bar has three MacAllan scotches (12, 15, 18) in their lineup, you know they mean business. Plenty of TVs around to watch your favorite sports event. It's the kind of place where you feel at ease and comfortable for any occasion. Great location near the river. We will definitely be going back....

We were there after 1 PM on a Monday. The staff from the greater to our server were friendly. If I could I would certainly give them another 1/2 of a star but that's not allowed and really should be.

The problem was with the noise level from all the hard surfaces in that rear room making hard to talk at the table and the lengthy amount of time it took to get the meals. The server was attentive and when she could see we were getting anxious for the food she stopped by to tell us it would be there soon. It wasn't soon but it got there. I had the Cuban and fries which were good, in fact, above average.

Looking at the overall experience it was simply good. I should also mention they really had the room decorated for the season including Santa hat covers for the backs...
