5 star service but kitchen failed us with lukewarm dishes. Place has been here for a year and we felt so welcome when we arrived. Short wait at their peak time on a Friday night. Waitress was pleasant, refilled drinks timely and accomodated our request for honey mustard. So friendly, we wish them continued success but we are not likely to return. Hope this review gives them some idea why. Birthday celebrant wanted a burger and picked this spot to try (then ordered chicken). Chicken breast vesuvio had strong white wine flavor, needed a bit more flame. Sauce was also somewhat gelatinous. The hubbies boring standby of grilled chicken even bored him with mayo, iceberg and tomato. The tasty grilled veggies wrap with shy balsamic dressing ordered no onion arrived with a lot of red onion. The buffalo chicken wrap featured thin sauce that messily dripped out (instead of marinating the meat itself), iceberg lettuce and the best chopped tomato (fresh, firm and tasty). Thin fries were not crispy. Chips were ok. Our foursome tab incl. tax/tip $70 without alcohol (soda was $3.50...
Read moreNot a regular and don’t understand how this place is getting 4/5 star reviews. Across the board just overpriced low quality bar food…and I really don’t like writing negative reviews - the French Onion soup came in tiny bowls, with only a sprinkling of cheese, mostly broth, few onions and little to no croutons. The Reuben didn’t appear to use sauerkraut, rather lettuce in a really bad mayo concoction, the CB was dry and bland, the ultra thin French fries were just not good and over cooked…Just plain bad. Want a coke - it comes in a can and they charge $4.25. I’m not cheap but a 2 soup, 2 sandwich, plus a few sodas pub lunch pushing $80 bucks for two (after tip) just isn’t good value even when the food is good…which it just isn’t here…the service was friendly, but understaffed, and the place is clean, but there are just far better options for a pub lunch. I don’t know what standards other reviewers are using to give this place 4 and 5 stars, but literally every other pub in downtown STC offers better...
Read moreMy husband and I came here for date night, and we could not believe how amazing and delicious the food here was. I ordered a cheeseburger with fries, omg it was the best burger I’ve ever had. We ordered chips and salsa for our appetizer, and while where I come from ( West Texas) those two things come free, it was well worth the price. The chips were hot and fresh and the salsa was homemade and had a great kick. We live in Elgin now, and this bar and grille is only a 10 mile drive for us, and we so look forward to date night again. Our waiter, I can’t remember his name- but he was very attentive, I appreciate that a lot. This bar also offers 4 slot machines in the corner, if you are over the age of 21 obviously- and I just couldn’t help but play for a little bit. After dinner my husband and I walked down to the river, which is a five minute walk from the Crazy Fox Bar and Grille. I can’t sing high enough praises, for the first time since moving to Illinois, I felt Texas amounts of...
