Schoop's Hamburgers — Restaurant in St. John

I'm actually surprised by the amount of positive reviews this place has. We pulled in the parking lot and it's completely empty on a Friday night. We walked in and and they were not friendly and told us to sit anywhere. There was no music playing so it was dead silent in there and awkward. I was whispering the entire time. I ordered the jalapeños burger, not only did I not realized that it didn't come with fries but it was so bland. Such a disappointment and then to not include fries with a burger is just strange in 2024. I also ordered a chocolate milkshake and it was brought out in a plastic frosted yellow sundae cup. It looked so unappetizing. The "chocolate" milkshake was also skimping on the chocolate. It wasn't good at all. My boyfriends son asked for a container for his fries and was given a brown paper bag. As soon as the fries were put in there you could see grease spots all over it. To make it worse we could see the white take out containers in the kitchen. The bill was around $65, which seems ridiculous for what we got. I feel bad for saying all this but i wish I had read this review before we went there, I will not be returning...

Came in today with group of 6 for one of friends last day in town for a while. Everything was great! Food was good as always, then we went to pay our bill. This is where things went a little rough. We asked to split our bill between the six of us. I understand sometimes that it can be annoying to split bills after it was made. While we are standing there waiting for her to split them, we looked up to see her adding an included gratuity without letting us know and it not being shown on the menu. When she handed one of us the first bill he pointed it out and let us know she had included the gratuity. She didn’t say anything and proceeded to hand us completely different recents that didn’t show the added gratuity and just showed how much extra tip we personally added beyond her included tip. Walked in and the place was empty on a Friday night and was told “sit anywhere”, not greeted. Double cheeseburger was bland, greasy and cost $16 WITHOUT any fries or sides. Cups were older plastic, and food was served in small baskets. The decor was nice, but there was no music on for the entire hour, most likely because they wanted people to pay for the nice jukebox. There were multiple cameras above our heads which felt intrusive (we weren’t by the door or by a register). The server was quick, nice, but not very friendly. The food was hot, and the fries were decent, but also had no salt or seasoning.
