My experience with this restaurant was not that good. I was excited because of a review a guy made on social media. And I thought the food was going to be really good. But as you know you have to try things yourself and everyone doesn’t have the same taste buds. My husband and I got there early around 11 something and it was only 2 people working so it was a little bit of a wait which I didn’t mind that. The owner was very nice he acknowledged us as we were walking in and even apologized for the wait. That was cool but that food wasn’t on point even a little bit. We purchased 3 rib tip dinners It came with 2 sides for $19.00 a total of $63.04. The rib tips were burnt and tasted like lighter fluid. My husband ask him if the potato salad was homemade he said yes. Not hardly that was store bought and it made my tongue burn. I don’t know if he tried to add something to it or not. I also heard him say that the baked beans and spaghetti was smoked on the grill. The baked beans came straight from the can with big chunks of onions, celery and green onions added with a hint of sugar. No smoke no where in it. I threw mines away. The rib tips reminded me of a neck bone it was exactly a bone no meat and over cooked. First time and last time. That was my experience I hope you read this and maybe take some notes to move forward to give customers good quality...

A Touch of Texas BBQ is the real deal — pure smoky perfection from start to finish. The smoked chicken wings were absolute perfection. The seasoning was charred just right, the meat was cooked thoroughly, and that smoky flavor lingered beautifully with every bite.

Then came the ribs — and let’s be clear, these weren’t regular ribs. They looked like dinosaur ribs — huge, impressive, and downright mouthwatering. Despite their size, they were tender and flavorful, falling right off the bone. The sauce tied everything together — a perfect blend with just a hint of sweetness that complemented the smoky flavor perfectly.

The smoked spaghetti was another standout — filled with large-cut vegetables that gave it a hearty, rustic feel. Personally, I would’ve liked the veggies cut a bit finer for texture balance, but the smoky taste mixed into the spaghetti made it absolutely top-tier.

And while waiting for my order, I believe the owner was playing old-school R&B cuts, which made the experience even better. The vibe was smooth, the music was right, and I was thoroughly enjoying myself before the food even hit the table.

Final Verdict: A Touch of Texas BBQ delivers bold flavor, Texas-sized portions, and a smoky kick that’ll have you coming back for more — and the vibes alone make it...

Okay, here we go…

My 7th time visiting this restaurant but a 3rd time’s is a charm right? Nope! I say a third time because of all the times I’ve attempted, they weren’t open or opened on time despite saying open. Today I decided to visit a restaurant directly across the street when arriving, I noticed that this bbq place was opened. I walked in, read the menu and approached the counter only to be told “I’m not serving you” 2 times by the owner. Not sure why, I didn’t question it cause I’m not forcing anyone to take my hard earned money.

Reason, the first time I visited this establishment, I spent just over $40 to support the business to get home and realize I didn’t get everything I paid for. I posted a review simply based of not receiving all my paid for items. Didn’t bash the food not once. 2nd time I went the owner recognized me and said “give me some grace” which I was by returning and spending my money again. I’m a rib tip guy so I purchased rip tips again and a polish. The tips were dry and rough but the polish was good. Didn’t bash again.

After a Instagram/Tiktok food reviewer viewed this restaurant on his platform, I said “I want that experience” and tried to get it today only to be not served based off me not changing my first review. Bad for business and...

I was walking by, and this aroma enveloped me, swept me off my feet, and entranced me into floating through the door. Authentic BBQ joint as you can get. I felt like I was back in the South. Got the pork steak and spaghetti. Because if you're going to throw down in St Louis BBQ, pork steak is South City Hoosier Prime Rib. And (expletive) all those backyard bbq's, family dinners, and every place else you've eaten one. This is the BEST PORK STEAK I HAVE EVER EATEN. Opened the box, and it looks at you all seductive and whispers "eat me". Then you're sizing it up and there's that dang aroma again. But this time it's grabbing you by the ears and screaming "EAT ME" at you. So, you indulge. Oh, Juicy. As in, Notorius BIG Juicy starts playing in the background. That food didn't stand a chance. Engulfed it like a zombie on a chubby kid. Walked outside where Chef was tending the grill and thanked him for an amazing lunch. He said everything is his Grandmama's recipes. That may explain his stature. He is a mountain of a man, with a big smile, southern hospitality, and down home cooking readily available.

My husband and tried this place out for the first time. We got the beef rib, oxtails, and chicken wings. All were seasoned well but the Dino beef rib and oxtails were beyond delicious. I had never had bbq Oxtails so it was a new experience. It was fall off the bone good! The meat for those two was so much that it filled us for the whole day. The wings were small though they came with 4 so that was the only thing that disappointed me. But the other ones more than made up for it. The owner was very nice and custom service was excellent. He told us it was his grandmothers 100 year old recipe from Texas and that she use to sell it to the hospital workers. Let me tell you… All of his ancestors were present in that bbq! That had to be the original Juneteenth bbq! I thought I got a better picture of the Dino bone but the image doesn’t do it justice. We ate it without thinking and had leftovers for breakfast! The sides were nice and the establishment was very clean and professional.

This honestly might be the best bbq I have eaten in STL. I was truly taken aback on how good it all was. First timer, went on a whim at the end of the day. Only things they had left (a great sign!) was the burger, pork steak and beef ribs. Never had beef ribs so got them and a pork steak. My mouth was watering from the smell on the drive home haha. Food did not disappoint! Such good smoke flavor from the pork steak, visible smoke ring. Beef ribs were so amazingly tender, amazing flavor. He pulled them straight off the smoker. You will not get that at the more well known places. I am so freaking happy I live so close to this place! Will be back again and again, I need to try the whole menu. I overheard him tell another patron, they do everything fresh that day. No left overs. So they just do what they think they can do in a day. That’s the way it’s supposed to be. If you want it, go early.
