We visited on a rainy and cold Saturday night for our son's birthday. The place was lively, busy, and perfectly French brasserie in look and feel.
After ordering a bottle of wine, we were started off with the house bread, a long roll, twisted into smaller ones, served directly on the brown butcher paper covering our table. Each of us were given our own little ramekin of butter.
As an appetizer, one of us enjoyed their French onion soup, and the rest of the table sampled the escargot, which were swimming in a decadent butter sauce. For dinner, my husband tried the braised beef because of the tantalizing reviews he'd seen and was not disappointed. Generous chunk of beefs in a rich sauce, surrounded by luscious carrots and potato puree. My son opted for the Bistro Steak, which came out exactly as he'd ordered it with crispy steak fritters. I ordered the duck confit which was amazing! The skin was wonderfully crips and salty and the duck meat was tender and flavorful.
We ordered a couple of desserts - the profiteroles (four small ones that came with miniature gravy boat of chocolate sauce for pouring-over) and the chocolate mouse. And they threw in their floating island dessert, topped with a birthday candle for my son!
I can't say enough about the caring and warm service. The request we made with our reservation for a corner table at the back was granted because one of our party has some hearing issues. The location made it so much easier to talk with one other in the bustling, high-energy space. When our entrees were delayed, the manager made sure to come over to see what else she could provide as we waited and our waitress expedited our order.
Even though it looked like the place was at capacity and there were other establishments nearby, we found a good amount of pay-to-park (Park Mobile) street parking, just two-minute walk further up the street.
I highly recommend Brasserie and plan to visit again when we're back...
Read moreI have had dinner here at least 5 times and Brunch 3 or 4. This is, by far, the best restaurant in the St. Louis area. Pastaria comes close, but this place is just perfect. The atmosphere is great. A nice, quaint little dining room. Come fancy if you want, dress to the max, or come with jeans and a clean shirt. It really is just comfortable. The drinks are always amazing if you like cocktails (dinner and brunch), and the wine recommendations have never been disappointing. They actually have an amazingly creative non-alcoholic cocktail menu so even your kids can feel fancy. The salads and starting courses are all fabulous but the entrees are always just slap your mama good.
Do not be a fool, if it's your first time in someone at your table needs to order the roasted chicken. I know you're thinking, "I'm not coming to a fancy restaurant and ordering the chicken." I was right there with you my first time, but my wife ordered it and my eyes were opened. The roasted chicken is in the top three dishes I have ever eaten at a restaurant. It is criminally delicious. Save room for dessert because it is good too.
The place is definitely pricey. If you want to go on a date and eat well and have a nice long, fun time, you could be looking at $200-300 for two people. If you go wild you could easily get close to $500 here. I'd say at minimum be prepared to spend $75 per person. But don't get me wrong.... You can come in for $100 and have a good date. And it is worth it. The brunch is more affordable and equally divine. The brunch cocktails are no joke and everything on that menu is great. The Croque Madame is surprisingly amazing. Another dish that you will be thinking that is lame and then kicking yourself when you have a bite of it from a table mate.
Definitely get a reservation here and just come enjoy a...

The decor has an understated elegance, giving it a classic French brasserie feel, complemented by dim lighting that enhances the cozy atmosphere.
Food Highlights:
I started with their French Onion Soup, which was nothing short of exceptional. The rich, flavorful broth topped with a generous layer of melted cheese was a comforting delight. Each spoonful was hearty and satisfying, with just the right amount of sweetness from the caramelized onions balanced by the savory depth of the broth.
For the main course, I opted for their Brasserie Burger, served with a side of crispy, golden fries. The burger was perfectly cooked, juicy, and flavorful, with a soft, buttery bun that held it all together beautifully. The fries were well-seasoned and crisp, providing a great complement to the burger.
The dessert was a real treat – a warm, caramelized apple tart topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The tart had a wonderful balance of sweet and tart flavors, and the creamy ice cream was a delightful contrast to the warm pastry.
Service:
The service was impeccable. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, making sure our water glasses were always full and that we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Their recommendations were spot-on, and they made us feel truly welcome.
