The outside of the hotel doesn't look that great but the rooms have all been remodeled and are very nice. We brought our little dog and liked that she was allowed and there wasn't any carpet in the room. The downside of bringing a pet is that there is no grassy area for them so we had to walk around the block to find some. Thought there was a pool - there is not. They do have an exercise room which looked very nice with many different machine options to choose from. While they do serve breakfast in the morning, they did not have the usual "make it and sit down and eat" type of breakfast room... it was more of a "take and go" to either eat in your room or on the road. They offered donuts, boxed cereal, milk in a carton, juice in a container, toast, prepackaged muffins, yogurt, prepackaged oatmeal and some microwavable items. There is a microwave in the dining room so you are able to warm up any necessary foods and they had another room with some tables and chairs and TV so you could sit and eat if you chose not to go back to your room. The front staff was very friendly and offered advice on some ideas of eating places that were around. There is a Subway and Whole Foods next door and we chose to check out those places to get some food to take back to our room. The beds were nice and comfy and I slept well. Best of all, the curtains actually covered the window entirely so the room was almost pitch black when closed... A feature that's important to us so our daughter will stay asleep in the morning.

Platinum Elite, Owner, Ambassador with IHG. Called in to see if I can check in early around 9:45am. Was promptly shut down and told no, there’s no availability. I explained my status and was lectured about check in and check out time. Then I was asked about my reservation name, gave it, and was immediately informed that I could check in upon arrival. After asking about a complimentary upgrade, to which I am always given based on my status, I was again immediately told no. Talk about a first impression. Upon arriving, Faith called me by my name before I introduced myself, even though this is my first time in St. Louis. My status wasn’t acknowledged, nor was I thanked. I was offered a welcome amenity of points or a snack. I once again asked if a complimentary upgrade was available, as I noted and expressed that about 5-7 rooms were still available with a higher tier than my most basic option, but again I was turned down. Then I asked for a late check out to be at 12:15pm, and even though I’m typically entitled to a 4pm check out because I’m an ambassador, Faith told me I could only get an 11:30am check out. I again explained that there were very many rooms still available the following day and my request was minimal based on the little extension I requested, but was brushed off and told to call again in the morning and I’d likely get it. I feel very unwelcome, the room feels moldy and nasty, and overall have a bad impression thus far.

Hotel is overpriced. We came for a 2 night weekday stay and booked while driving in because we had IHG points. Reviews said that rooms had been recently renovated, offered a daily breakfast bar and that there was parking available. They are actively under construction. We took an elevator down to what we thought was going to be the parking garage but ended up in an unmarked construction area. Many of the areas of the hotel were blocked off for construction (restaurant, outdoor areas, pool maybe?). However as a handyman I was disappointed in the finished renovations. Bathroom looks nice in passing, but shower will need to be redone soon with all the areas of water failure happening. Paint in areas was already peeling. The barn door is a horrible upgrade from a real door as it doesn't fully close and there is absolutely no sound blockage. The headboards are held up with decorative "pins" and already sagging and not far from falling on an unprepared sleeper. Breakfast bar was all prepackaged food so at least it was easy enough to grab and go or take extras. I will say that the coffee was good. If you need to be in this specific location it's not the worst choice, but we would've stayed elsewhere had we known the area better.

I usually stay at Holiday Inn & Suites several times a month for business travel, which has always been a pleasure, so I was reluctant at first to stay at an Express because I realize it may not meet the standards I am used to, however this one was less than a mile from my daughters new apt, so we booked based on location.

To start off the entrance/exit parking lot was challenging to say the least. Being very tight is expected in a busy metro area, however, the set up in general was confusing and it wasn't just us, as we noticed many other guests entering, exiting and driving the wrong direction during our stay, as well as several of our Lift & Uber drivers struggling too.

The hotel lobby was clean and the lady at the front desk was very friendly each and every time we seen her, both days of our stay. However, beyond the lobby was a different experience.

The hotel is obviously older which I typically don't mind, but the hall way to our room smelled very strongly of dead fish for our entire stay. Luckily we could not smell it in our room, but it was so bad both days we were there that we held our breath to get to our room. My husband later realized that good portion of the carpet in the hall was soaking wet, which is likely the cause of the smell.

Upon arrival the room seemed surface clean, bedding etc, however there was dust caked in the corners, along the walls and behind the furniture where the outlets were (night stand & small dresser outside the closet)

The curtain in our room was badly torn. Looked as though an animal just shredded half way up one of the sheers.

The bathroom was very small, low ceiling, poor lighting. The water pressure was good, but could barely stand under the water without both the wall and curtain touching you (in fact my husband is broad shouldered and had to stand the other way or one of his shoulders and arms weren't even in the shower). The shower curtain was not long enough for a walk in shower, therefore the floor was totally soaked after each shower. There was something brown splattered on the wall next to the sink that had obviously been overlooked, luckily I was able to wipe away.

My room did not have a hair dryer, but the lady at the front desk did have a staff member bring me one, however the handle was very sticky (eek) so I had to wrap a towel around it in order to be comfortable touching it.

The lounge chair & carpet were visibly stained. In fact I noticed that after I had showered and walked around in the room, my feet were filthy from the carpet, I had to wash them again with a towel before putting on my shoes.

Breakfast was good and the dining area was clean. The staff was very polite and attentive to ensure things were filled and stocked during the hours served.

As I mentioned I stay with Holiday Inn monthly, sometimes several times, and have never had any complaints, so this stay was very disappointing and a huge waste of not only my money & but my member points that I used for both nights.

I will continue to stay at Holiday Inn as it is the preferred hotel for my employer, however I would not stay at this location again for business...

We found a room at this hotel on a very busy weekend in STL. Had there been other choices available we would have stayed elsewhere. The area is okay but the hotel is old and has been turned into a boutique type hotel. There is gated and underground gated parking but not enough spaces for everyone. We took the very last parking space one night in front of the building (not gated). There was no carpet in the rooms, only a throw rug between the two queen beds. I understand this hotel was newly remodeled but it smelled very musty in our room. The one bed was nearly against the wall/window and getting in and out of bed you would move the curtain where, had there been someone on the sidewalk just outside our room, they could have seen in. The room darkening curtain would not stay flush with the wall so it let in a lot of light from the street lights at night. There was a mini fridge and coffee maker but no microwave. The area where you hang your clothing has a bar across the middle so your clothing cannot hang down strait. It would have worked okay for hanging little kids clothing. There was a small vanity in the bathroom so not a lot of space to put your toiletries. No hooks in the bathroom for hanging clothing while showering. The old bathroom door opening isn't made to accommodate the barn door that was installed. It didn't provide for a nice tight fitting door or a completely private bathroom. We could not figure out how to correct the time on our clock and the front desk did not know how to either. The phone in our room did not work. The bed was comfortable and the dual head shower was nice. We did not realize the breakfast was grab & go and it was not mentioned as grab & go when checking in. Breakfast could be picked up (self-serve) in an unused hotel room. The egg omelets, sausage biscuits, etc. were frozen and there was only two microwaves in the room for everyone to heat their food before taking it back to their rooms. There was also packaged muffins, oatmeal cups, cereal, yogurt, juice, coffee. We were quoted a price, stayed two nights and upon checkout found the price we were charged the second night was higher. When asking why it was higher the second night, the employee on duty gave an explanation of, "she said you were rude to her", referring to the employee that checked us in.

So, unless you find yourself in the same predicament as us and there is just no where else in STL to stay, I would not...

We booked a room in mid-October using Reward Points. We had seen the "hype" about a new hotel opening on the Priority Club website. As time for our stay grew near, I read the less-than-stellar reviews and was anxious about the upcoming stay and whether we had made the right decision. Thankfully, we did! The lobby area and other public areas are small but modern looking and clean. Other reviews had mentioned an odor, but I detected nothing at all either in the lobby or room. The hallways are narrow, but the walls and carpeting were fine. The entry door to the room looked as though it had been repainted rather than being new, but I don't base a hotel stay on door appearance. We had a room with two double beds; other family members had reserved a room with a king size bed which I saw. Both rooms were very clean, with modern furniture, new carpeting and new lighting. Electrical outlets were adequate despite a claim otherwise in an earlier review. The bathroom was small, perhaps compact is a better word, but I really liked the basin and the shower set up. The ceiling was low which perhaps explains why others have mentioned the aspect of size. Best of all, it was clean! The bed was very comfortable, and no better or worse than what we've encountered at most Holiday Inn properties. Our continental breakfast was very good. I believe it was better than most breakfasts we've eaten at other properties. I did not have the most positive experience with the front desk. I was put off when the person manning the front desk asked me to provide my phone number at check-in. I thought one benefit of membership was having a quick and easy check-in. Ours took a while. We had another family member also waiting to check in, and when the second desk clerk arrived, rather than going ahead and checking them in, she mentioned to the clerk helping me that he could handle both of our reservations. We were under a time constraint, so it was a little aggravating. Other than that issue, all other aspects of the stay were good and I felt like the price was very reasonable. I'd stay again...
