This place rules so much. Literally my third day in a row coming here b/c it's so good. First time, I got the roast beef which was one of the best and most interesting roast beef sandwiches I've ever tried. Super tender roast beef + pickled radish + romesco sauce (I had not heard of it before but it's a rich and smoky sauce made of tomatoes and peppers from Spain) makes for an out of this world combo. I then got the chocolate chip cookie to go and it was really the perfect chocolate chip cookie. Next day I had a hankering to go back and try more sandwiches. I got the veggie one b/c someone described it as top 10 on this planet. I had no idea a sandwich with zucchini and radish could taste so good. I guess it's b/c of the fennel goat cheese spread!! This place is the type of place where you eat their stuff and it leaves you satiated yet wanting to try more, so I ended up getting a panzanella to go. Very fresh. Third day....again hankering to go back. Their staff (who are so friendly and caring and passionate for what they do) recommended the tomato sandwich. Mind blown. I had no idea a tomato sandwich could taste so good. I guess it's the combo of silky mayo + fresh tomatoes from their farm + salt of the focaccia + basil AND dill that made it to die for. Again, I was satiated yet wanting more so I had to get a focaccia to go. I have to say that they are better than union loafers. Probably because of the focaccia and the farm fresh ingredients and their inventiveness in putting it all together. I am dreaming about what to get next b/c it's so good. It will probably be the turkey sandwich (it looks so pretty with the purple cabbage). Or maybe the tomato sandwich AGAIN b/c it's to die for. I also heard the grains bowl is incredible (such interesting ingredients such as sour cherries, capers). I can't believe I have to wait 3 days to go back. I can't wait though!!!!!

Garden Variety Deli is trying to win the sandwich game! I walked into this adorable little deli thinking I’d just grab a quick lunch. Instead, I got a full-blown produce movie and it came out so fast. The Caesar salad was so fresh with Kale, kohlrabi, greens, and parmesan crouton. And the veggie sandwich was stuffed full of a farmers market with tons of veggies, fennel goat cheese and greens. These greenies tried to escape out the sides but I organized between each bite so we got it all down. Let’s talk about the focaccia. That bread alone would have satisfied me. Fluffy, salty, herby and a little crunchy. Very impressed.

I always love a new sandwich place to try, but few of them really make an impression right away. Garden Variety Deli was a delightful exception! The food was so fresh, so flavorful, so delicious, and the staff and cafe were kind and calm in the best way. What a lovely spot to take a breather midday and spend a few moments enjoying good tastes and good people! We had the turkey sandwich, roast beef sandwich, Caesar salad, and grains salad and loved them all! I will absolutely be back to try the veggie sandwich and the chocolate chip cookies as big as my face!

Garden Variety Deli just opened in the Tower Grove South neighborhood serving sandwiches on fresh baked focaccia. The space is small and intimate, but bright and cheerful. There is limited seating including 2 4-top tables and a 4 seater bar against the front window.

They opening week menu includes sandwiches, salads, and a limited number of baked goods including giant chocolate chip cookies. Fresh produce & herbs are harvested from chef's garden.

Sandwiches include: Turkey with havarti, slaw, dill ranch & greens Veggie with seasonal veggies, fennel goat cheese & greens BLT Tomato with a super thick fresh tomato, herbs and aioli Roast Beef with romesco, pickled radish, aioli & greens

They have 2 salads on the menu: Caesar with kale, kohlrabi, greens & parmesan croutons Seasonal with greens, herbs, veggies, citrus vinaigrette & breadcrumbs Grain with freekeh, seasonal veggies, currants, capers & fet5a

Bonus: Add shaved turkey to any salad for $4. I added the turkey to my Caesar and it was well worth the additional $4 for the giant portion.

You can add a side salad for $5, a side of kimchi/mixed pickles for $3, or add bacon for $5.

We loved our first visit during their...

I’m so happy there’s a new sandwich shop on Morganford! I first stopped in because it’s just down the street from my work, and I’ve already been back two more times. So far, I’ve tried the roast beef, turkey, and BLT. The addition of pickled radish on the roast beef is brilliant, and the fresh dill on the turkey makes it so bright and flavorful, but I think the BLT might be my favorite. The lettuce is so crisp, and the tomatoes are bursting with flavor.

Every sandwich comes on homemade focaccia, and it’s absolutely to die for. I can’t wait to work my way through the rest of the menu and see what seasonal creations they dream up for fall....
