When you walk in you are greeted with an eclectic decor- art museum meets living room- very homey. The music is a trip- jumping genres and decades, and the vhs movie playing is a treat! After you order (and so many great options- my child is vegetarian so this is one of the few places traveling that we had more than a veggie burger choice) you choose where to sit and they bring your drinks and some tasty popcorn to munch on. We had the tofu and pickle pizza (the pickles were sweetish tasted home made and the crunch of fried tofu and rich cheese made this delightful), the house made fries (absolutely delicious), and the French toast (rich and creamy flavor- I didn't even need butter and I usually love to slather my French toast in butter). The gentleman serving us was so very nice (he even brought me additional dinosaurs and sent me off with a to go cup of their kool aid of the day- purplesaurus rex- a favorite from childhood). This was the best place I've eaten in a very long time.

I just had the best omelette of my life. I could take or leave the coffee, but the food was delicious. And they were quick to get it out to me, too. Everything there was fresh home cooking, with children's movies playing through a VCR and TV against the wall. I'm eager to try more from their fun, expansive menu. Update 2021: It's easy to pre-order online -- either for dine-in or carry-out -- and the staff is very welcoming and masked properly. Such a great menu, it was difficult to decide! (I finally went with the fried egg sandwich, a side of carrot pancakes, and black 'n blue mac 'n cheese).

The vegan food here is amazing! I was traveling from out of town and stopped in on my way home. I ordered the lentil burger, donuts, and a pickle pizza per the owners request. Another cool thing they do is bring you fresh popcorn while you wait for your food which was unique. Ross was such a sweetheart, and checked on me throughout the meal, and kept bringing me goodies while I was eating. It was really late when I left, and he even walked me all the way to my car. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding. I will be back every time I’m in the St. Louis area!!

My boyfriend and I decided to eat dinner here as we are vegans and don't have very many options especially late at night. We waited outside until they opened and were the second customers in there we sit down and no one says anything to us then the very rude dude who I guess owns the place comes up mumbling some stuff about a QR code. It completely stumps us but rather than explain to us we need to scan the QR code to order( which was new to both of us) he just walks away. So we sat there confused for like 20 minutes while more and more people pile into the restaurant who I guess ordered online. We couldn't find the QR code as we weren't provided with one at our table. We finally find it and order online.noone checks up on us or says anything.Pancakes and fried cauliflower was all we had ordered. We ended up sitting there for nearly 2 hours!! He never came back never said anything about our order just glared at us from across the restaurant and helping other people. I finally get fed up and go and ask for an estimate on my food and just then he tells the kitchen to make it and says less than 5 very rudely and walks away from me. Are you kidding me ?! So we sat there for 2 hours for them to make our food in 10 minutes! And the manager acted rude and like he was mad at us the whole time. For US waiting 2 hours while everyone else around us got and ate their food. We sat outside for you to open. Waited patiently and quietly for our food. Were polite when you first talked to us. We were just trying to have a good eat out experience since we're vegans and that's hard to do. And it sucks honestly the food wasn't bad. But I couldn't imagine giving my money to that awful man again. This place took our amazing date night and ruined it. I stand by what I said soooo glad we didn't tip any of you. Shame on this place. Can't wait to see it closed. Food 7/10 really wasn't bad sucks I kinda liked it. atmosphere 0/10 there's just trash everywhere and seats are way too close together it's a negative energy as soon as you walk in. Service -10/10 we were so excited to try this place out so excited we might have a new spot to eat at and the service here completely ruined that. Not only will we not be coming back but we will be informing everyone to...

Absolutely incredible food, service and atmosphere. The pictures and eclectic walls tell stories as if there wasn’t a pile of VHS tapes and shelves full of old movies to pick from. Although delicious, the unassumingly casual and readily available table popcorn almost makes you wonder where you are as you scroll through their digital QR menu. When your eyes find the incredibly priced $2 kool-aid flavor of the day, it’s easier to accept that you, my friend, have stepped into the Twilight Zone.

The farm-to-table/vegan menu exceeded my high expectations and I fell in love with their banana pancakes/french toast. Perfectly cooked bacon and fries. The list goes on, as the management has special farm to table 5 course dinners held monthly. It does not get much better than this guys, honestly. The hours of operation make you wish they were open everyday, but that’s just one of the special things you have to appreciate about Gooseberries. The management/staff work very hard in the restaurant, kitchen, and most of all on their farm: to serve mouth watering meals for the people of Saint Louis. That’s what the Midwest is all about.

Do not pass up on this place, your heart will know why once you’ve...

Probably one of the worst experiences I've had in recent memory. I've had their food before and it was good! So, my partner and I decided to eat here for breakfast. We ordered and sat down. It didn't seem very busy, but we ended up waiting almost 30 minutes. I asked about our food and the reply was "You got to be patient. Patience is a virtue!" to which my reply was, "Yeah but I'm hungry." We then proceed to eat. The food wasn't bad but not great, either. Rather than see if the food was OK, this same "patient" person literally THROWS two take home boxes on our table and says "Since you're in a hurry, here's some boxes." Look, we literally just started eating our food! Very rude. I ate my entire plate and put the take out boxes on the order counter.

I don't appreciate spending $20 for food, without an expectation of how long the food is going to come out, only to get attitude about me being hungry for said food.

I won't be back. There's far too many other places in this...
