It's Kevin, one of the most infamous people in St. Louis... if you haven't met him, you've probably heard stories or read about him in the Riverfront Times. He is a wonderful guy and I really miss being able to dine in and strike up conversations with him :(
Kevin takes pizza seriously, and it pays off in dividends. Speaking as a connoisseur of the [rather divisive] St. Louis style pizza, I will confidently say that he makes the best I've ever had! The default cheese is provel, and sure you COULD substitute in mozzarella, but then why are you ordering from a StL pizza place? Typical of this style, the pizza sauce is a little sweet and the crust is thin with the perfect amount of crispiness. My go-to is always pineapple and jalapeno, which strikes the perfect balance of several different flavor profiles.
My five-star rating for the service and atmosphere are from a time before Covid when you could dine in. Kevin was - and is - a one-man operation; somehow he managed to do it all (including deliveries). Even considering that, he was always on top of things like providing refills or taking requests for more food, etc. The old Cherokee location was a shotgun style house, nice and cozy. The current place on Mardel is huge with terrific outdoor seating, located in beautiful South City surrounded by traditional St. Louis brick homes. Reminiscing about the many times that my friends and I would dine on the patio just makes me miss it more. Kevin, if you see this, just know that I would be a regular again if you ever...

We call, asking for half cheese and half veggie. Over the phone, he just didn't seem happy about it. We go for pickup after about 20 minutes asking if it was done. (Btw the place was MESSY.) He comes out of his kitchen with the dirtiest of the looks I have ever been given. He says that because we asked for half veggie and half cheese, he has to cook it twice. He said that he forgot about our pizza and it burnt a bit. We asked if he could make it again, but he simply replied by saying:
"No I'm not remaking ANYTHING! I'm not gonna throw it away so you either take it as is or nothing."
Sitting in the car, I first thought he was just having a bad day, but that thought lasted probably 2 minutes when other customers next to our car had ordered too. He mistakes their order thinking its ours and gives it to us. We thought he had changed his mind and was willing to make us another, but the car next to us said it was theirs. He went to the customers (who were white, average looking teens entering adulthood) and starting apologizing like CRAZY! As he was going back inside, I asked him if he was gonna make it or not and he said, in a very rude and disgusting manner, "nO I tOLd yOu 3 tiMeS beFoRe! IM NOT MAKING ANYTHING!"
As a Muslim immigrant wearing a headscarf, I feel that I was very mistreated. He treated his other customers like they were royalty, while my family and I just weren't worth his time.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND. HORRIBLE SERVICE (and...
Read moreIf I could leave this place 0 stars, you better believe I would. My friends and I were hungry after driving all day and wanted to sit down to have some pizza. We walk in and the lights are off, even though the door is open and online, and the storefront say that it is still open for three more hours. The owner, Kevin was immediately irritated by the fact that we wanted to order food from his restaurant because he was trying to do his taxes in the dining area. He began moving tables around agressively, swearing, and even threw his cat who was in the dining area across the room out of rage. He then told us he wasn't going to accept our cash if we all were going to be paying and that he "wasn't going to kill himself over five pizzas". He was extremely rude and aggressive and gave us all a memorable and entirely unsatisfactory experience. First time in this town and Kevin single-handedly ruined it for me. Fk you, Kevin....
