Have been going here since the beginning of time and the quality of the food has gone down. The Greek salads and dressing are consistently wonderful. The Avgolemono soup never has enough rice, but it is delicious! What's with the no salt saltines? Pork chops and baked chicken are lovely as is the fried shrimp. If the Pastitsio and Moussaka are authentic, I never want to eat in Greece. The burgers and salads are great as is the ribeye steak sandwich. In all our years of going there I have never been served a freshly baked potato. They are prebaked then reheated. They have a distinct leftover flavor. I love the home fried potatoes you can substitute for steak fries. So good! I don't care for Greek style spaghetti, it has cinnamon in the sauce. Uhn-uh. The spinach pie we used to crave has gone waaaay down in quality as well as portion size. It's often pasty and still cold inside. The combo plate is very passable. However that hunk of lamb-spam whirling around on a skewer always makes me gag just thinking about it and what it is. I know, it's traditional for gyros, blah blah, but it always looks like dried out monkey meat. There are always several daily specials, usually several kinds of fish or the ubiquitous liver and onions. My son-in-law informed me that the salmon was the best of any local restaurant. One of the tastiest things going on the lunch menu is the smoked turkey club sandwich, especially if you're lucky enough to get fresh, not precooked bacon on it. This is a restaurant. I don't want to pay fresh food prices for leftover, reheated food. I don't serve that at home. I don't expect it when I eat out. Forget about them making anything right if you are dissatisfied with the service, etc. EDIT-10/15/18--I ordered the Combo platter for my family to bring home. We live 5 minutes away. The food was room temp, chicken strips dry and tough as leather, the cauliflower and mushrooms were soggy and cold, toasted ravioli were chewy, Buffalo wings were overcooked and tough. How can so much cooked from frozen food be so bad? I guess because it's PREFROZEN! A side order of pita bread was hacked up into little wedges. Gee, I can't figure out how to cut or tear it myself, which I DON'T WANT TO! Just leave it alone! Get a salad,...
Read moreNO EXCHANGE! - REALLY?! So for my wife's Bday I treated her to one of her favorite restaurants's that's she's been going to since she was a kid by her uncle. Now in my adult years of going to dine - in, i have never been refused to switch out for another entree if I was not satisfied with my first choice. I did not even mind paying the difference for a higher meal. Let me unwrap this a little more; before ordering the Chicken piccata, i asked the server can I taste the sauce to see if it was something I would like, and she said she they could not do it because it was being cooked with the meat and pasta. I said okay I would still like to try it. Appetizers and salad was delicious! Every thing came in a timely manner. Once the chicken piccata arrived and I took the first bite I realized my palate was not ready for this. I could not put my taste buds through another trial. Once I waved down the server and she came back to our table I told her I did not like the my entree. She said let me speak with my manager and see what i could do. Before she left she said was anything else I would like instead and I said I would like pork chop if I could switch it out or pay the difference (You can't go wrong with the CHOPS!). She came back said they would not refund me for the entree due to PREFERENCE. On the inside I was heated, but I politely said okay. Now I understand this is a Mom & Pop business, but I thought it was always about pleasing the customer and providing wonderful customer service. This was not the case. I was highly upset, but did not even want to speak with whoever was running things tonight. I did not want to cause a scene especially on my wife's birthday. The meal overall came to a total of $76.10, including the chicken piccata that they would refund me for. It'll be alright, but you most definitely lost a customer, because my wife and I planned on making it tradition to come there often. I don't know anyone. Kudos to server though. I did not fault her, she was just doing her job. She still got her 18% gratuity. Have a successful evening to...
Read moreMichael's is a delicious blend of bar/pub and Greek food. Their menu can satisfy almost ones craving and they'll do it well. Weather permitting, I prefer to sit outside on the patio, which is dog friendly. The busy traffic on Manchester is not a distraction. If I can't get a table outside, one inside the bar area is the next best. The tables are packed tight to handle the crowd, but it is fun watching the staff hustling and providing friendly fast service.
Some of my standard orders are; Chicken Wings (some of the best in the city), Fries (always hot and crispy), Burgers (big, thick, juicy and cooked to your temp perfectly), Greek Salad (add gyro meat) and of course, the Gyro Sandwich. Ordering any of these will be a good choice.
The other day when I stopped in for lunch with a friend, I decided to expand my experience. I saw that they had Fried Shrimp on their Lunch Menu and asked Dana our server how it was. She gave it a good sales pitch, so I thought I'd give it a try and I am glad I did. Before that day, I cannot remember the last time I had fried shrimp as a meal.
When my lunch was delivered to our table, I was surprised at the size of my shrimp. If was a serving of four huge shrimp, that were butterflied and flattened before frying. The panko coating, gave the shrimp an extra crispy coating. I may have been spoiled with their deliciousness. I'll be scared to order Fried Shrimp at another restaurant. The fries were crispy as always and I was thankful the Cole Slaw was creamy and not a...
