Iām not really one to post reviews, but Iām incredibly shocked at the level of service that I received this evening at this once revered St. Louis establishment. Itās a Tuesday evening, thereās not a lot of people around and Iām dining by myself. I wanted to sit outside because the temperature is perfect. The host, who is playing 3 roles this evening as host/bartender/table server, hands me my menus and tells me to seat myself. That felt off to me because there is a sign right in front of the host stand that says you have to see the host to be seated. I donāt mind picking my own seat but it was just odd. Iām not used to white glove service here so it didnāt really cause me that much concern until I look at it in light of the rest of the experience. Now you might be saying to yourself that I should have some sympathy they were short staffed. Except for the fact that there were maybe 10 patrons total ans 2 people working behind the bar for all of them. Iāve never waited tables but that doesnāt seem like a huge stretch. There were maybe 3 occupied tables outside and some patrons at the bar and no one sitting at tables inside. I seat myself and the host/bartender/table server comes over to me with water and proceeds to spill a bit on my pants. In his defense I donāt think he realized this and I didnāt make a big deal out of it because it was just a little bit of water. I order a glass of cava, which comes in a mini bottle, which he spills all over the table, but thankfully not on my pants. He apologizes and grabs me a second glass on the house. But it turned out to not even be the same wine. It wasnāt as dry as my cava, I think it was a Prosecco. Not what I was aiming for. Now Iāve been nothing but polite and understanding through all of this. I havenāt complained. I order my crepe, and the sauce that it normally comes with on the side is missing. I wait 10 minutes, maybe longer, thinking someone will come and check on me. The thought in my head is that Iāve received more attentive service in Italy, a place that isnāt really known for fast or attentive service. At this point the feeling that Iām getting from my trinitarian server is that Iām an inconvenience. When I walk up to the bar to ask for the sauce that comes with the crepe, I explain the issue, āHey, I didnāt get this thing.ā And he responds, āyeah,ā and then silence for a few seconds while he is staring me in the face. āCan you bring me the sauce please?ā āYeah.ā Nothing about being sorry, nothing to acknowledge that Iāve already had a bad night here and thereās another strike to add to the list.
Now Iāve had bad service at this location. Usually just of the inattentive variety. But Iāve ensured a lot at this location previously. Iāve been on the patio with mice darting all around my feet. Iāve sat at the bar for 10 minutes on a slow night before anyone acknowledged my existence. All the things. This is too much now. I will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've heard such good things about Sasha's, and I love Scarlett's, which is what makes my first experience here so disappointing. It's not uncommon for me to go into places and settle in for a while with a book or my laptop, order a few glasses of wine, and then tip well and leave. I never do it on Friday or Saturday nights or anything like that, and I always warn the waitstaff. I tried Sasha's for the first time, setting up at a table out of the way of everyone, even though there were only about two tables occupied in the building and maybe two or three on the patio. I requested just a glass of wine, nothing fancy, and for my next two drinks, had the same wine again. The atmosphere was really nice, the music was good, and the wine list was extensive. The service I had, however, was terrible. The guy that waited on me was extremely unfriendly, ignoring any of the times that I tried to smile at him, thank him, etc. Each time he came to my table, the most I got out of him was 'another?', and he slammed down each glass of wine, scowling the whole time. It was some of the unfriendliest service I've ever had, and I considered leaving early because of it. When shift change came, I chatted with two other staff members, and both of them were MUCH friendlier, which brought my rating higher. I will definitely come back and try again, hoping this time was just a fluke.
EDIT: I went back later in the week in the evening and the guy who served me the first time wasn't there. The server I had the second time was very nice and helpful and made the entire experience much more enjoyable. I only had wine and cheese so I can't comment on much of the other food, but the wine and the cheese were both good, and I increased my rating from my previous visit because although the server I had last time made my experience bad, I don't want that to be a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI normally am not this kind of person ,but it has been one to two many times I have been to Sasha's on Shaw and have been treated poorly and have had horrible service. Today was the last straw when we waited over an hour for three appetizers until my fiancĆ© gets our serverās/bartenderās attention at the bar then for him to eventually come over with an attitude because we came to the bar to ask for more drinks, mind you he wasnāt checking on us the whole time being there. Didnāt even see if we liked the drinks lol. We waited an entire 55 minutes to get 3 appetizers which were all dips and chips type appetizers! Then on top of that to find out the owner was in building when this is going on is outrageous! I donāt know who Sashaās thinks they are, but I wonāt be back and I will tell anyone not to go there. Itās sad that this is in a place I have grown up seeing and to know all the times I have been I have been treated like Iām not welcome. This is in the heart of Shaw around all different kinds of people who live around there. I have never felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome in my own neighborhood. Lastly if you go there do not get served by Josh he was the server we had, but come to find out he is one of the managers. Honestly best of luck if you do end up going because if you donāt look a certain way or maybe know the people who work there they will give you...
