Several people from my work have been coming here for lunch for quite a while and while the food hasn't been bad, the management has been pretty terrible. They used to only give one set of chips and salsa for multiple orders going to different people and eventually we were able to solve that after having to argue about it several times. They still give us only enough Cholula sauce for once or two tacos when we order 10+. I even had the manager/owner argue with us once for a bit when we had to go back and get tortillas that they forgot to put in the back (not the first tie they've forgotten). "I'm sure we put them in there!"
Today, however, was the final straw. We placed an order for shredded chicken tacos and received shrimp (also charged for shrimp). No big deal. We'll call in, explain the issue, and bring those tacos back and have it fixed. When calling in, the phone was given to the manager or owner who then argued with us saying that the girl taking the order said we ordered shrimp and so we must have ordered shrimp. Now, mind you, we have been ordered the same thing for over a year and they know who we are. We've never once ordered anything other than shredded chicken tacos. They finally said to bring the tacos back and they would be remade and a partial refund given. Perfect! He had an attitude about it, but whatever.
So, we went ahead and agreed and then mentioned that one of the salsas also busted in the bag and mentioned that very small amount of Cholula sauce we were given for 10 tacos (again). The tone of the manager/owner changed at that point. He told us that we should buy our own Cholula sauce and stop taking advantage of them and just accept what they give us. He had an extremely rude attitude about it. We said we were just going to bring the tacos back and get a full refund due to his attitude and he said "good, that's good for my store. Bring me my tacos back!"
It's crazy to me how a business will treat repeat customers, especially ones that still patronized their business after finding out that they hired a convicted sex offender who was arrested for allegedly touching a child while on shift working there...
Read moreWaited 50 mins for our food to come. I would give the waitress a 5 star review. We wanted to walk out and just hand her a big tip. She does a lot of work and is wonderful. Not sure whats going on with the cook. He could have been having a rough day. It was my first time coming to this place with my family. Saturday night and it wasn't crowded. We wont be coming back because of that long wait. I arrived at 5:50 pm. We didn't get out until after 7:05 pm. We ate quick. The men's bathroom was very dirty according to my husband and son. My 4 year sat next to me after his trip with dad, and was telling on them for having caca on the floor. But then again my husband said alot of men are nasty and a lot of bathrooms get gross like that. Women dont like hearing those things. Sorry, no excuse. The whole place might seem a little grungy. Greasy seats and wood benches that shined. I didnt know if it was a wood polish or food grease. After waiting that whole time and getting "okay tasting food"...mehh not good enough to come back to this place. Sorry to our amazing waitress. She's one of the best I've ever had at a restaurant. She saved my son from drinking spoiled milk there. Husband ordered it for him. She came back and told us it didnt smell good so she brought him water in a cup with a lid. That was above and beyond. Thankful that she cared enough. She deserves to be in a better place. I wish the place matched her. No photos of food. It all looked normal. You get what you ask for. Portion size, small but I'm small so to me it...
Read moreI've been to Compas before, and the food was good, but this time it was sub par. The cook could use a few tips. The service was wonderful though, and I would still probably come back when I'm craving Mexican.
The ambiance is a small, family-style, restaurant, with lots of wood furniture. We went there for an early dinner and there was no wait. We were seated immediately, and our server Amanda was friendly and attentive the whole time. She constantly checked on us and refilled drinks without us having to ask.
We were brought out chips & salsa almost immediately after being seated. The chips were very fresh and the queso and salsa dip were tasty. I ordered the quesabirria, which came with consume. The beef was very tender and juicy, but there was barely any cheese and the taco could have been fried a bit more in my opinion. The consume was standard.
My mom ordered the steak, chicken, and chorizo plate that came with rice. She complained that it was too salty, but instead of sending it back she tried to put lots of lemon juice on the meats to be able to eat it. She did end up telling our server Amanda, who was kind enough to remove it from the bill. Amanda apologized and explained that there was a new chef working that night. The sweet tea was fresh and good.
Although our food was mid this trip, I've had some good dishes at Compas before and would still come back to...
