How is it that in 2020 cafes still make customers feel bad for ordering a drink with less milk than what they offer on their menu? I asked for an iced cortado or at least that espresso to milk ratio but served over ice. The cashier said "well I'd have to charge you more...I mean I'd have to put it in an iced latte cup and charge you for that" Keep in mind their iced latte is a 16oz drink. A cortado would normally be between 3-5oz. I noticed they do indeed have a smaller iced cup, likely around 12oz so I asked if they could make it in that. She obliged but still charged me for a 16oz iced latte. When my drink was ready the barista said "whoever ordered this drink it's ready." I asked what drink it was and she said "well it's not really a thing." To which I replied "I'm always surprised at how uncomfortable cafes are when asked to make an iced drink with less milk". And speaking of me ordering a drink that's "not really a thing" what about the 'espresso old fashioned' you serve or the 'espresso tonic' on the menu, are these traditional coffee drinks or do you just get to pick and choose what is and isn't a thing based on how you're feeling that day? How refreshing would it be to find a cafe that treats you like a customer instead of like a simpleton that doesn't know what is or isn't a thing in the...
Read moreI have medical conditions where I cannot have certain things in my diet. I cannot have coffee for this reason and throughly enjoy matcha. I am usually thrilled with the seasonal menu and the offering of matcha here so I went in and asked for The seasonal matcha drink with one exception. Please leave off the sprinkled topping of chili lime dusting on top and I will still pay full price, just please leave it off. The first time the barista was very nice and obliged. The past two times they have said they cannot take it off even with medical reasons why I can’t have it. I even showed my EpiPen. I find it sad and unsettling that in the course of a week that something has changed and when being told that I almost felt ashamed of being sick in the first place with how I was told and treated. I can understand not wanting to alter something that was thought out and made with care for the season AND I’m not asking to alter anything just leave something off that is a topping and not altering the recipe and charge me full price. I will not be going to this local place anymore and will be sharing my experience here...
Read moreTried this coffee shop after a recommendation from a friend who lives in town. It's a really neat building that is really open and pretty.
Their menu doesn't show everything they have, notably the miele, so don't be afraid to ask if you don't see it.
I got the bourbon caramel and it's really good! Not overly sweet like some caramel coffee is.
Some things I noticed were that one of the barista had a mask on, but it wasn't covering their nose or mouth.
There was also condensation from the AC unit dripping water on the counter, lids, straws, container with mixing whisks, and milk pitchers. So some drinks are mixed with a whisk that was sitting in water that dropped from the ceiling. Kinda gross. Thankfully my drink didn't require that. That being said, I get that it's hot and humid and you can't really avoid a huge pipe in your building, but moving some of the stuff a little more out of the way...
