My wife and I have been dining at Brazzis for many of the past 20 years. We have however been patronizing other local restaurants lately and have not been back in over a year. During that time we have heard from very good friends that they had bad experiences with the food when they were there and wouldnt be returning. Since we always enjoyed the food and service we decided the other night to go have dinner and judge for ouselves. We arrived just a little past five on a Thursday. To our surprise we were the only ones there. I even joked to the waitress and asked if we beat the chef in! Having been there so many times I knew what I wanted before even getting there. The Margarita Pizzete(so paper thin, crispy and delisious, was first up followed by a cup of Pasta Fagioli. Their Pork Chops were always fabtastic. So thick and juicy to the last bite. So good that one of my brothers would drive from Ortley Beach just for that. Pasta Fagioli also one of the best I ever had. So good that I managed to copy the recipe close enough to satisfy me. The Pork Chops come with sausage(hot or sweet),peppers, onions and potatoes. I asked for both hot and sweet sausage. My wife ordered her favorite, Rigatoni Palermo and it was as good as it always was she said. The Focaccia bread they put on the table is always excellent as well. Now comes the reason for my only three stars review. The Pork "Chops", plural as it says on the menu, was only one very thin and very dry tasteless chop! The potatoes were also very dry and bigger than the two very small pieces of sausage that I barely recgnized as sausage mixed in with everything else on the plate. Both of the two mouth size pieces of sausage were sweet and not both as I requested. As the waitress was clearing our table we asked "where is everyone"? Even in the off season this place always did very well and during the summer was usaully packed evry night. She commented that it just hasnt been the same lately.Once I had expressed by displeasure with my dinner to her she acknowleged that it use to be two chops. I prefer one anyhow just as long it is double cut, juicy, hot and tasty to the end. It was now after six and as we were leaving we realized that we were still the only two people there besides the employees. One of the owners was behind the counter, not busy, and never even loked up and said thank you, Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays or even good night as we walked right past him. Maybe thats why we were the only two there! If he had asked how was everything tonight I probably would have told him but since he didnt seem interested I decided to write this in hopes he sees my good and not so good comments. In the past the two brothers made you feel like you were dining in Italy! Guess our friends were some what accurate with their experiences. As a side note, the following evening we went to Sunset Seafood in Tuckerton, one of our favorites, and had one of the best if not The Best...
Read moreI’m not one to leave reviews because everyone has their opinion; I was in the mood for chicken Marsala, didn’t want to drive to AC so I figured we go there. We walked into the door not to be greater by stared at, the older woman who stands at the podium that talks more then works gave me a dirty look as she’s looking at with her nose in the air I asked for a table for two! She said oh right this way. As she threw the menus on the table, she threw the “ special” paper and said these are the specials for tonight as walked away as the paper fell on the floor she walked over to a table that was getting ready to leave . After sitting there for 20 minutes without being approached by anyone, I finally turned around and asked the server behind me who was running around like crazy ( was not busy) excuse me, I see you are really busy and I’m sorry, but can you please find our server. Super nice, sure . She walks over to the menu thrower who was standing at the podium ( not sure what she said ) and the menu thrower said( as loud as could be) , give me a break I just say her down, I was saying goodbye to my family ( mother). 20 minutes is a long time to be “ just sat” , from there on, our food took forever o come out ( again not crowded, maybe only 5 tables) we had the entertainment of the menu thrower ( hostess) be extremely rude to customers as she threw menus on the table. Good finally came out, my chicken Marsala had no flavor, barely any sauce, portion for the price was small. My sons chicken franchise was very tart as if they only used lemon for juice. Overall, customer service is terrible, hostess needs to wear clothes that’s more appropriate for restaurant setting, food was cold and gross. Let’s just say.. that will be our last time...
Read moreBeing a local my family & I have frequented Brazzi often. When I enlisted coming back into town and going to Brazzi was always a treat I looked forward to. I crave the Alfredo sauce :) The last two visits have been extremely disappointing. I do not ask for customized menu items and feel I communicate with my server well. This visit, in particular, I ordered the Buratta, and the waitress informed me there was no caponata prepared. I understood and ordered it anyway. When I got it, there was still a missing item from the plate. I asked for a menu to make sure I'm not in the wrong and ask the waitress for the missing bread. I'm met with a huge attitude, which made me feel great... I get the 4 toast points and eat the dish. Next, I order a beet salad. This also is missing not only the pecans but dressing. After the first run-in, I just eat the salad as is. The visit before was also an issue with missing items from the wedge salad that was ordered. I'm not aire who plates and who dresses the dishes coming off the line, but on evenings that only have 3 families in the restaurant, nothing should be missing from any dish. Secondly, I understand helping out your coworker, but there was absolutely no reason to have 2 servers hovering. I love how Brazzi has staff specifically to run and clear plates. Glasses are never empty, and tables are clean and maintained. I love it here. ...
