Chef's Diner — Restaurant in Stamford

I stopped by Chef's Diner early in the morning while I was waiting for some work to be done on my car. The first thing I noticed was that the restaurant was clean and well-maintained, which is always a good sign.

However, I must admit that I was somewhat disappointed with the food. I ordered bacon and eggs with homefries and toast, and unfortunately, everything seemed to lack flavor. The bacon was just okay, and the homefries had a burnt taste to them and were quite bland. While there are many factors to consider when evaluating a dining experience, taste is paramount, and in this case, it fell short of my expectations.

A true GEM! A proper diner, complete with very tight limited parking (caution!). I didn't expect to find huevos rancheros in a cafe in Connecticut, but there is a large community of Latinos in Stamford and it seemed most appropriate to see their selections on their menu. Black beans and sour cream with channels was spot on. All of the other fixings were very nice, all the plates are served in square which is slightly different than a typical diner, makes it stand out. One of the things I appreciate it most was the bright clean environment that is not typical with a dive or a diner. They used porcelain table tops and countertops for the bar area. I was wondering around an area unfamiliar to me, looking for a place to enjoy a LONG uninterrupted meal, while I waited for my passport. As fate would have it, I missed the connection to my original choice, and the cold harsh wind lead me to this door. It is pristine and welcoming. The menu leaves you with so many options that it should be easy for anyone to find something that they are in the mood for, while staying close to their Latin roots as well. The fresh squeezed pineapple orange juice was amazingly fresh and crisp. The huevas a la Mexicana with the ribeye was a platter of delights that warmed my belly.
