I went in with my service dogs and was immediately asked to leave. I informed them that my dogs were service dogs and they demanded proof that they were service dogs such as an ID card or a vest. I said no such proof is required under the law. The worker got loud saying that if I did not have an ID card or a vest then I must take them out immediately or she would call security. My friend did take them outside while I ordered. I told them they were breaking the law and did they want to see what the law said. They said they did so I pulled it up on my phone and showed them where the law specifically says that they cannot ask me for an ID or vest, etc..." The worker then said that my dogs were not under control. I said they were, they had just gotten tangled in their leash for a min and got slightly riled up because of my increasing agitation at being treated this way by Del Taco workers and that as soon as I finished ordering it would take a second to calm them. I said that they were puppies and they were still in training but they were able to perform the tasks I needed them to, we were just working on their social skills. The worker then got loud again and said that service animals in training had special rules and had to have a vest or ID card or they couldn't come in. I told her she was wrong, that the same rules still applied. She also said they were barking at other customers which I said was not true. A lady in line then said they barked at her. I said they did not bark at her, she came in at the moment they were trying to untangle themselves and my female let out a short warning bark to my male because he was going the wrong way to untangle himself. The worker then said that I could bring them back in but if they were out of line or barked at anyone I would have to take them out. I said they would be quiet and they would lie down while I was eating. I brought them back in and sat at a booth. Both dogs proceeded to quietly lie down and were both quietly lying down when security came in and told me to leave with my dogs. I said they were service animals and the worker had said they could stay if they were quiet which they were. The security guard said they wanted the dogs out so I had to leave. I said I would not leave. He said if I didn't leave he would call the police. Not wanting any police trouble because my boyfriend had a failure-to-appear warrant for a traffic violation a month prior, I left. But i am furious! I was embarrassed and felt very discriminated against. I will never eat at that Del Taco and I am going to file a federal discrimination law suit against them and the security...
Read moreThe management team and staff are outstanding. The service here is always good. I'm greeted with a smile, and feel as though I'm a valued customer. Considering, this is not necessarily and easy location to manage and operate, I feel they do a great job of holding it down. There appears to be a good number of homeless people hanging around the shopping center, so this does take away from some of its appeal. However the restaurant is clean, and offers professional and friendly service. Admittedly I've only gone to this restaurant when I needed to visit the Walmart next door. I've always entered the restaurant with reluctance because of the surroundings. However once I get inside, the service that I receive and the quality of food that was served always makes me feel comfortable in my decision.
Good job Del Taco at Beach and Garden...
Read moreThe SLOWEST "fast food" ever. We spent 39 minutes in the drive-thru on a Friday night at 12:00am. We were about the 5th car in line. I'm not sure if Del Taco was short-staffed inside or what (we only saw 1 employee), but we felt bad for the cars pulling into the drive-thru behind of us like, "these people don't know what they're getting into". We ordered 3 tacos and a bowl. I understand waiting for dinner in a sit-down restaurant, but not for Del Taco. The woman working inside got our order right and was friendly, but that doesn't make up for the wait. I mean, those are the bare minimums you should be able to expect from an establishment. My thoughts on the food quality was, "it was something to eat".
This was our 3rd poor experience with a Del Taco recently and likely the last. It's time to give up. Don't go,...
