Don't go there hungry as you will really be working for your food. We had the crawfish, crab and shrimp boil in a medium spiced sauce. Make sure to adorn your bib that they provide as juices and sauces tend to fly around during all of the crack and wrangling you'll be doing with the shellfish. The shrimp were tender and flavorful. The crab was very good. The crawfish had more of a fishy taste so I wasn't too dazzled with them. Service was prompt and attentive. Keep in mind that when you order the combo bowl, it's enough food for at least 3 people. The waitress didn't tell us (she was new) and they brought out a second enormous bowl but graciously took it back when we explained that this was our first visit and no one explained the menu to us. I would also suggest going with a group so you can try a few more items plus it'll make it easier on your wallet. It would've been nice if they provided some sourdough bread to dip in the sauce with your meal but perhaps it's a future consideration. Don't expect a romantic, tucked away in the corner experience either. It's very loud and seating is not the comfiest as they don't have any booths. It's more like picnic bench seating. At least I didn't miss my Dodgers on Sunday night baseball. You should definitely go at least once if you like shellfish just to say...
Read moreMake sure you double check the bill because a live crawfish charge will be placed on your bill even though it wasn't mentioned when ordering (or mentioned in the menu) if we wanted live or frozen when asking for combo 1 (1 lb crawfish, 1 lb jumbo shrimp, 1 lb manila clam, corn (3)). Ordered Cajun fries, the fries itself was good, the seasoning was light, could use more seasoning. We ordered combo 1 mild with hut sauce. The sauce is barely there when compared to Boiling Crab/Kickin Crab, you'll have to move aside your food to get to the bottom. Overall the sauce was okay, tasted more like oil then actual flavor. Food texture: Crawfish was fair, and shrimp and clams was good. The size of the shrimp is good as well. Definitely reserve because this place is very busy. Once seated, we waited about 15 minutes for a server, about 15 minutes for fries, and 28 minutes for the rest of the food to arrive. For checkout, they bring the mobile POS to your table ask you to check your bill (they scroll quick), charge your card for you, and holds it until you tip, and sign. I probably would not come back anytime soon. Food and service overall wasn't super memorable. At the very least would try it again in...
Read moreI came here during the soft opening and the first week they opened because they had specials. Prices were decent, and the flavors were okay — definitely better than some of the overly sweet sauces I’ve had elsewhere. The seafood overall didn’t exactly stand out — it wasn’t super hot, juicy, or fresh-tasting — but for what you got during the promo, it was a bargain.
I do want to come back to try some of the appetizers since they looked good. I also had high hopes for the fries (they use that battered style I used to get in Houston that we don’t really see here), but when I tried them, they didn’t come out the same.
Service was fine — the staff was nice, but there didn’t seem to be much consistency. It felt like everyone was just running around helping whoever.
Being at Rodeo, parking is always a hassle, and honestly, there aren’t a ton of good food options left there. So if I needed to grab something at Rodeo, I’d probably come here again. I still want to try it once more now that they’ve been open longer and the prices are full.
Overall: just okay, but worth a try if you’re...
