This place is totally awesome! The atmosphere is incredible. Gorgeous wood, creamy countertops. Even with quite a few people nestled in on a cold day (12 days after opening, I'm told) there's plenty of seating, and maybe even a chance for fun interactions with your neighbors. The owner (I think) was testing out sandwich samples (the tuna-cucumber was delicious), but right now it's primarily hot drinks, smoothies, and some pastries. I got a pour-over coffee for $4. There were two options. I got the Guatemala. Okay, $4 is kind of pricey, but wow it was good. I think they use Chemex because their tip jar is a Chemex vessel, but whatever, it was great. Their drip coffee is $2 something, which is totally reasonable, and I haven't tried that yet. I stayed a while to work on my laptop. The seat I am sitting at is surprisingly comfortable; I think I've been here over an hour, now. There's quite a few conveniently placed power outlets, and the internet is decent — not amazing, we're talking about 3Mbps down and 2 up — but better than a lot of other free wifi places around. Plus you don't have to deal with putting in a password or paying extra for it (cough, Websters, cough). I've just ordered a green tea and it was served in an adorable 1.5 cup press with a 3-minute timer that I can pour myself. The staff seem really friendly. I'm going to be coming here a...
Read moreI’m from out of town but travel here often and whenever I do, I stop at Rothrock. Service is usually pretty great and so is the coffee. Didn’t have a great experience today. I came in to order a black drip coffee to go. I was the third one in line, but when I came in, it was totally quiet and I could tell something was going on with the computer, but then they started taking the couple of orders ahead of me. Those orders were for dine in and they had a food item and a drink that had to be made. When it got to my turn because I said it was to go, she told me that they couldn’t take my order. I wasn’t asked if I wanted to wait until the systems came up or anything, but she didn’t hesitate to take the other peoples orders because they were sitting there and I assume they figured they could collect payment when the system came up. If that the case that’s a weird way for them to look at it because those people could also just leave….Based off of the service today I don’t plan on coming back for some time. Either you take everyone’s order or you take no orders…. “ Hey, sorry everybody our systems are down. We won’t be able to take any orders at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience. Feel free to wait or come back at another time.” I would’ve been totally fine with that, but to take the people ahead of me was...
Read moreWe saw this shop and thought it looked so cute. We were quickly disappointed.. the girl at the register that took our order was very rude to the woman in front of us, she was not friendly to us. She took our order which was 1 latte and 1 black coffee. The latte was ready after 5 min or so, the coffee never showed up. Same for the woman in front of us. The woman finally got the rude girls attention and asked for her coffee- she was very quick to tell her orders are made in the order they are received .. the woman said she has been standing there for 25 min while others have left long after is. She was very annoyed-but at least said “sorry about that” .. when I grabbed her attention and told her I also didn’t get my black coffee she was so mad. Slammed my coffee on the counter without a word. We will NEVER go back. I with all the coffee choices, why would you ever patronize a place with such miserableness.. coffee was good, that’s the only reason I...
