We were a party of 4. Two Adults and two "children" (ages 20 and 14). We were traveling and decided to stop for the night so we didn't have a reservation.
The hotel has a comfortably spacious lobby with the breakfast buffet area to one side. It was after 10 when we inquired about getting 2 rooms. One for the "kids" and one for my husband and I. My husband and oldest are over 6 foot.
Adam was cheerful, but not overly so, and very helpful. He booked a double queen room for the boys and king room for my husband and myself. It was a handicapped accessible room but we didn't mind. It was only for one night and it was available.
The room was well done with lots of space. There was a living room area in the front and the bed in the back behind a partial wall. It almost felt like a one bedroom but there was no door and the opening in the wall was over 3 feet across. The walls were a bit thin. I fell asleep listening to the guest next door chatting. They weren't really partying and I could make out the words, but I could definitely hear that they were talking.
The bathroom was large as well. My husband appreciated the handicapped features, like the drop down seat that fit across the tub. He has bad knees and hours of driving had aggravated them. My one complaint is that the shower head is a hand held option only and it's short. If you are sitting on the bench in the tub it doesn't allow for you to sit up and rinse your hair. My husband had to lean over forward for it to reach.
The mattress was firm, at first I thought it was to hard, but it seemed to grow on me. The pillows were the standard, hotel size, pillows. They are very squishy and I usually need two to feel like my head has enough support.
The boys double queen room was pretty standard. It was nicely appointed and looked fairly new. The bathroom seemed small but it had double sinks and a tub.
The breakfast buffet the next morning was the standard fair. It wasn't good or bad and had all the usually choices. Check out was a breeze. The bill was slid under the door and we left the keys...
Read moreI’ll start with the steps. The best I have seen in dozens of hotels. Carpeted, well lit, clean and easy to find. I only used the elevator once upon arrival and then it was step time. The room was clean and well laid out. The bathroom had a fan that actually worked to quickly remove air from the toilet/ shower area. The mattresses was on the firm side but not uncomfortable. The pool was nice as was the fitness center. The end of the pool room is glass block with plants and a fountain. In the evening hours of summer the Sun may shine though the glass giving this indoor pool an outdoor feel. Two notes for improvement. First is the bright green LED lights behind the tv that shine in your eyes as you leave the bathroom in the middle of the night. The second is the ice maker. The second floor ice maker. I was barely working despite my best efforts. I used the maker on another floor and told the front desk. The reply “We know, we are waiting on the repairs to happen.”. If they knew, why didn’t the put a sign on the ice machine. Overall I would gladly...
Read moreMy first impression was that this is a nice hotel, with a modern and clean lobby area. Goldie checked me in, she was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the area. She thanked my for my membership loyalty and asked what brought me in, I told her that we came in for the Irresponsible Tour at the Bryce Jordan Center.
The rest of the staff I came into contact with were all very friendly and eager to offer any assistance.
I didn't use the pool or fitness center, but I did take a peek at them before I went up to my room. The kids in the pool were enjoying it and the fitness room looked pretty adequate for a nice workout.
The room was nicely decorated but man was that AC loud. When ever it turned on it sounded like a Harley starting up. The Wi-Fi was really slow, only 12mpbs and the iron had a short in it, I had to keep wiggling the cord to get it to stay on.
The next morning we breakfast at the bistro, the food was pretty good. Overall price was a bit high, but I guess when there is little to no competition in the area you can charge...
