We started eating here regularly. Then one day we stopped to eat, even though we didn't have a lot of extra money because our pay hadn't come in yet, but we had enough to eat . We Decided to eat there as usual. When we were ready to leave, we gave the Waiter our card to pay, The waiter came back saying it was declined. We knew that wasn't right, we didn't have a lot extra money at that moment, but more than enough to pay for our meal. We went to the register, I had cash I could pay with if need be, but on the way up my wife logged into our bank on her phone. Then we saw that their card machine had charged our card twice successfully, tried a third time , but it failed. Thankfully our pay hadn't hit the bank, because god knows how many times it would have charged us. We tried to show the guy at the register, you couldn't make him understand anything. All he could say was it failed. When we are clearly showing him it didn't. He still wanted me to pay a third time, I refused, he already owed me for one back. When we got home, my wife called the bank and confirmed they were paid one time and the other one was refunded to us. She called the guy to tell him and offered to get whatever info he needed to make sure that the card machine company paid them, because they took it from us. She still couldn't get anywhere with him. I don't know if he is just to stupid to run his business. We tried to tell him he needed to call his card machine company, but he couldn't understand that it was not our responsibility, it was on his end. We tried to go back there to eat, we just got dirty looks and the waiter wouldn't take our payment. Yet he was doing it for every other customer. I don't know if they just don't have enough sense to run their business and check to see that they got paid or if they know they have and just do want to admit they were wrong and apologized. Card machines screw up, but their handling of it was pathetic. If I had paid him again before I left that day, I'd never have gotten my money back. That and their garbage attitude when we returned, cost them good customers. More than just us. I don't recommend anyone eat here, this business...
Read moreEl Rinconcito is likely the best Mexican restaurant in Statesboro. Other places are good, and I wouldn't be upset if my friends misguidedly invited me to El Jal or El Som for a bite to eat. But El Rin isn't just good. El Rin is everything you've asked for. Excellent quality food without breaking the bank is big points. The servers are always super polite and welcoming and are always around in time to fill up your fourth glass of sweet tea. There's a serve-yourself salsa bar so you can get chips and salsa and anything you need for your tacos at your own pace, and even my dad couldn't complain about that. There's a storefront next door where you can buy, among other things, Coca Cola (hecho in Mexico), dozens of varieties of dried chiles, and tons of Mexican candies that you've probably never tried. And you have to try them. No, they dont serve alcohol. But that keeps their taxes low, prices low, and college kids at bay. And there's Two Guys next door, so everything you need is right there. I just went today and I'm already anticipating my next visit. 10/10,...
Read more"El Rinc" is a place I've been about a dozen times. It is far better than Statesboro's well known chain, El Sombrero. The food here has some of the same dishes but also many that are only here. I have had around 60% of El Sombrero meals that knocked it out of the park (the other 40 isn't awful, it's just not worth suggesting "the hat" to). "The Rinc" is the place I tell more people about if they want Mexican or a restaurant.
Everything I've had here has been stellar and pleasing. It also has pretty good horchata and multiple hot sauces. The crown jewel here is they have a nacho bar. Most Mexican places will give you endless nachos and salsa, but here you get your own chips, and there is a bar with pico, around 7 sauces from mild to super hot, fresh and pickled jalapenos, limes and lemons, cilantro, raw onions and a couple more items. They recently removed sour cream from the bar but you can order a dish with it or the cheese based dips.
This is one of the area's best eateries and definitely...
