Uncle Shug's Chicken Barn — Restaurant in Statesboro

Would give 0 stars if I could. I have eaten at this location for nearly 10 years. The food has always been decent but the service has declined over the last few years. Today was the tipping point. Waited over 30 minutes for my breakfast. While I sat and wait I observed 1 man being turned away because they had to many grit orders currently and then 3 minutes later watched a lady order a grit cup and her food come out 2 minutes later. There were maybe 6 orders placed inside while I was there and every other order I saw came out was biscuits only. Finally after waiting 30 minutes with no one speaking to me I asked about my order only to be told they were waiting on grits. How long do grits take to prepare? Why would someone not tell me this? Asked for a refund and that took an additional 10 minutes only to be given the wrong amount of money back twice. During this entire process a simple apology or communication would have sufficed and I would have happily ordered something different. Everytime I come into statesboro I come here. In the past, I have visited every day for a week because I can't find this quality in Savannah. Tonight I went in and was very disappointed. The chicken tenders were dry, rubbery, small and flavorless. I could have gotten Better at zaxbys which is truly a shame as a fellow small business owner. Prices also went up, which is okay as long as they bring the quality with it. Instead prices went up and quality dropped. I'm not sure if I'll ever come back to uncle shuggs due to this experience. We dropped $28 for 3 meals tonight. Uncle shuggs wont see my money again if the quality does not improve. Service was good, not outstanding. Employees need have less personal convos at work with a rather dirty looking supervisor walking around eating behind the counter. I hope this review finds the owners well. I have several points that need to be addressed. 1: I know the chicken is not made fresh, I have personally seen a 2ft pile of chicken already premade. So do not tell me lies that the chicken is "fresh" 2: The chicken is already made, so the drive thru should not take 20 minutes especially if their is only one or two people in line. 3: take a care of who you guys hire and at least if you hire questionable looking people teach them that customers comes first and be respectable 4: Have your employees pull back their long hair and wash their hands. I shouldn't get strands of hair in my food or be handed my food by dirty hands and nails
