Lucky Brunch could be an awesome establishment that earns returning customers again and again, but there is a server that prevents this whole mission from happening. Upon discussing this with another staff member (and others who decided to listen in!), they said that ‘she just gets stressed out’. Well, this is the food industry, and stress is apart of the job. I’m saying this not ignorantly, I’m saying this as a Sous Chef who works for a different restaurant and I know the quality of food and service well. To say that she simply gets stressed out isn’t enough to account for the lost business due to her invaluable ‘customer service’ if you can call it that.
Upon coming here with my girlfriend for months, we’ve devoured every plate of food we’ve gotten to try from the talented hands of the kitchen staff making it all happen. To add to this five star category, Nina does a fantastic job in expediting food from the kitchen that is plated beautifully and as ordered. Seriously, the kitchen has mastered their craft and it’s obvious by the specials and menu staples they have.
However as hard as I try not to be seated under the service of Veera, it seems to happen almost every time which takes my entire mindset away that this experience will be a good one. If you’re reading this and are confused by the way I’ve described Vera’s service, please sit down and have her serve you. You will experience the same disappointing, frustrating, and mind-boggling experience that I’ve had being Vera’s table, and on multiple accounts dine in, as well as over the phone (especially over the phone).
I’m very disappointed as a Chef who’s been working in this industry for a decade now and to see this kind of belligerent disregard for the quality that can be such an experience dining out, is simply horrendous. Do better with your staff. At the end of the day - it’s a business that relies on customer’s returning and not being driven away from...

The restaurant is super clean, bright, laid out well with a counter and several tables and chairs that can be adjusted to accommodate larger groups. Parking lot is large and laid out well. Great location at 15 and Van Dyke.
It is rare that I go to a restaurant at lunch that is filled, but this place was, even at the 1p lunch time. Luckily we got the last table and as soon as I sat down and saw Franks Red Hot on the table, I knew this was going to be great.
I had the Navy Bean Soup (of course with Red Hot) and I ate the whole bowl, which I never ever do. It was the perfect consistency, seasoned perfectly, and the beans were the right texture. My co-worker tried the Broccoli Cheese and he enjoyed the creamy, smoky flavor and that the broccoli was cut perfectly for the soup.
I ordered the Benedict Florentine for my entree and was super pleased that though I had forgotten to ask for well done potatoes, but when it was delivered to table, they were perfectly well done. The Hollandaise was perfect, not broken with the perfect balance of butter and lemon. The egg.....poached perfectly with the little bit of firmer yolk on the outside but the inside still running and gooey.
The bacon, the bacon, the bacon......well done with peppery edges....exactly how I like it....and I don't really like bacon so this is a big deal to me.
So the place is new and bright and clean, the food is over the top, but what about the rest of it. So many places are short staffed and stretched thin. Not here, all the staff, super friendly, helpful, and you can feel the family feeling when you are here.
It is hard not to order everything off the menu on your first visit, but the best part about wanting to try everything at least once, you will want to go back.
They also have free delivery which is helpful when you are...
Read moreHad a rough experience here with their wait times and the system they used not informing us about our table being ready. They also had an issue with us bringing in coffee from Tim Hortons, which is fine as I’ve been to other restaurants that have this rule, but there was no sign or indication on their website or location about this. Their delivery of this rule was incredibly rude and a waiter told us we had to throw away our drinks.
Ordering food wasn’t too bad and we informed them of not eating pork due to a dietary restriction … and yet I bit into a piece of bacon from my skillet. Up until biting into the bacon, the food was average and tasted as most skillets have. I informed the waiter of the issue and after the plate was taken back to the kitchen, I was met with utter indifference and lack of disregard for what had happened. I was told that the chicken was halal and there shouldn’t be any cross contamination and yet the bite of food with bacon tasted completely different than the previous bites of food.
Unfortunately I will not be coming back or recommending this place due to this incidence and the deplorable service.
Food was okay(ish) and the prices were average and on par with other brunch spots. Due to the limited seating inside and the small layout of things it does get a little...
