Checked in today with a lady and she was very nice and helpful. We went to our room and pulled back the sheets to check the sheets and mattress like we do at any hotel. The room smelled like feet, I was very nice and respectful when I went to the front desk to let them know of the smell. Matt offered some air fresheners for the room and I told him that I would rather switch rooms. I informed him that we had pulled back the sheets to check the mattress and sheets for anything like bugs. He told me that we could check our room when we got back for the smell and possibly switch when we get back from the amusement park. While we were gone, Matt had a housekeeper check our room in which we did not authorize them to check our room. We agreed that we would check it when we got back because our belongings were in the room. He called us to tell us that since the sheets were pulled back that we could not switch rooms. I called Matt to ask why would he send someone in our room and he said that it’s their property and that they could do whatever they wanted. He told me if I make any kind of voice towards him that he would kick us out no refund. This is some kind of racist, slavery talk. I don’t appreciate it. I have a right to be upset about the smell of the $200 room. We could have stayed somewhere else for that price but I always choose the holiday inn because it is family oriented. We are here for our daughter birthday weekend and he ruined our whole vibe. I will never stay at this location again or a holiday inn. He told me to talk to someone on Monday morning because no one would be available. They shouldn’t be treating customers like this when the manager is not working. Matt is VERY disrespectful, he thought it was funny that I said the room smelled like feet. As of 4:08 PM we are not kicked out of our room, he cannot kick us out over a review. I will update this if we are.
UPDATE I spoke to the GM Paolo Nona this morning and he is saying that he don’t know what happened between Matt and I. But I told him, I also called corporate and they told Paolo what happened. Paolo the GM also mentioned that it was his call to send someone to our room while we were gone, so he authorized the room check and that they could go in any room they wanted to since it is their property. That’s so weird to me though, why go in someone’s room Instead of simply letting us change rooms. He does not take responsibility for his employees, and I can tell that he doesn’t care either. I asked him to walk the room with me when we check out so we will get our deposit back. There shouldn’t be any reason for them to keep our deposit, but you never know with this money hungry establishment. I told him that we would have never booked this hotel and he was pissed. He told me he’s not going to let me bash his establishment in his face but I was simply having a conversation. I think they think that all black people have to act a fool to get their point across. If you are black, avoid this hotel. They seem to act as if a black person cant express their freedom of speech. I don’t have to be quiet because you don’t like what I’m saying.
I’ll keep an update on my boyfriend’s deposit. We booked...
Read moreMy family of 8 visited this hotel as part of a hockey tournament. As a family of 8 we need the MAX amount of room we can get in a room and reserved a 2 bed "suite" as their website called it.||||Their website clearly says that this room as a "separate seating area" with a pull out couch. Like 99% of hotels that advertise this, this usually means there's a separate room. ||||All there was, was a couch on the far side of one of the beds. There were no pictures of this room on their website either, its blank. Appears they really do try and mislead you. We like the separate room so our younger kids can go to bed early and the older ones stay up a bit later, very hard to achieve in a room of this style.||||The house keeping staff were also very rude. The Saturday morning of our visit, before we left (8am) we asked that our room be cleaned in the morning. We returned at 1pm, room not cleaned. We started preparing lunch when there was a knock on the door with the staff wanting to clean. We told them we were having lunch and they persisted, indicating they wanted to go home and they had to do our room....uncomfortable! ||||On our last day, we asked for a late check out so our 6 kids could use the pool and it was no issue. 30 minute prior to our departure, there was another knock on the door - housekeeping - they were rude, telling us we should not be there and they needed to clean the room. We told them we had a late checkout and it was a Sunday night, there was no way that they were going to be busy with check in's that night anyways, they stormed off.||||The pool was nice and warm, but never had towels. We went down on Sunday at opening and there were no towels, one would assume you would do the laundry over night and when you open the pool in the morning it would be fully stocked.||||The breakfast was good and the hotel was...
Read moreI was in Detroit with Family to attend the funeral of my Uncle. Our hotel stay was supposed to be for two nights - Friday, the 25th of September and Saturday, the 26th of September. We traveled via car from NJ so it was approximately a 10-hour trip.
Our stay on Friday evening was fine and the Desk Service was fine. On Saturday night, we tried to get to sleep at 10:00 pm. so we could get up early on Sunday morning to return to NJ. We could not sleep at all. We stayed on the 2nd floor and the noise from the 3rd floor was horrible. It sounds like children running up and down the room and/or hallway and it just did
not stop. We called the Desk at least 3 times. We were told that they contacted the guests on the 3rd floor to give them a warning but the noice continued. It was almost like the guests on the 3rd floor were doing this on purpose...On our 3rd try to the desk, we did not get an answer so we decided to get up and pack our bags and we left the room. There was no mention that the hotel had Secuirty so it seemed that the Hotel Clerk was responsible for calming down the noise above us which would have been unfair to the Clerk. I am sure that other guests on the 2nd floor had the same experience that we did...the noise just did not stop. When we went to the desk, we explained the reason for leaving and they did not offer us another room so we asked for our money back for this evening and the charge was taken off of our bill. This hotel was recommended to us and it was very nice but our experience - due to the noisy guests on the 3rd floor was not good at all.
The hotel should have had secuirty on hand to calm down those that were consistenly making noise above us. I am sorry to say that we will not be returning to this particular Holiday...
